Jaric and Irina stood there with their mouths agape. Their eyes widened with shock and disbelief.
"Mr. Wilder went through the barrier!" he exclaimed. His surprise rapidly transformed into unrestrained joy.
"The Chosen One has finally appeared. This is the moment we've been waiting for." He laughed heartily, and Irina mirrored his excitement.
The Novaks had anticipated this day for over a thousand years, and now it was finally here. If Sebastian could obtain the magical artifact within, it would lift their family's curse.
"Is it safe inside the valley?" Delaney asked anxiously.
Jaric's laughter faded as he turned serious. "I'm not sure, but Mr. Wilder is the only one to have ventured inside in the last thousand years. Being the Chosen One, he should be safe inside."
…
At that moment, Sebastian stood in the valley and stared blankly at the barrier behind him.
How could such a powerful barrier let him through without a hitch? What was happening?
"Could I be the Chosen One they've been waiting for?" he mused, though the thoughts quickly faded. What mattered now was discovering the treasures hidden within.
When he looked down, he was struck speechless.
A raging sea of fire roared to life in the valley, with flames shooting up like the gates of hell. The heat rolled over Sebastian in waves and made it feel like he had stepped into a world of molten lava.
Beside the sea of fire, a blood pool oozed with an unsettling aura. Its surface was calm as a mirror, yet it reeked of a chilling, metallic scent.
It flowed through his fingers and into his body like a raging river. He could feel the energy surging through his body, which revitalized his internal energy pathways and physique.
"What incredible energy! Could this pool contain the blood of the phoenix, the vermilion bird, or even divine beings?" The thought sent a chill down Sebastian's spine and unsettled him.
"The energy in this blood pool is incredibly pure and rich. The results would surely be extraordinary if I could use it to refine my body and train my techniques."
His eyes sharpened with determination. In the next instant, he leaped into the blood pool.
The valley was expansive, but there was nothing else besides the blood pool and the sea of fire. If there were treasures to be found, they would either be in one of those two places.
Sebastian decided to search the blood pool first. He would turn his attention to the sea of fire if he found nothing there.
