Restarting Life: Back From the Dead novel Chapter 15

Felicia’s sobs wracked her body uncontrollably. She hurriedly wiped away the mixture of tears and mucus from her face before abruptly shoving Sebastian to the side.

Caught completely off guard, Sebastian stumbled backward and fell to the ground. Through her tears, Felicia let out a bitter, mocking laugh. “You laughed at me earlier. Now look—you’re just as messy as I am! You got what you deserved!”

Sebastian felt a surge of frustration but couldn’t bring himself to be angry with her. Instead, a soft chuckle escaped him. He reached out, gently took her hand, and started guiding her toward home.

“Enough, Felicia. Come on, it’s late, and you’ve been out here too long. It’s time to go back.”

“No! I don’t want to!” she snapped, jerking her hand free from his grasp. “I don’t want to go back! I can’t stand seeing Steven and Fiona talking about their marriage like everything’s perfect. Just give me some space—some time alone. I need fresh air to clear my head. I promise I won’t get in their way. Once I come to terms with all this, I’ll go home. You don’t need to convince me.”

Sebastian’s mind flashed back to the reality that awaited them. His tone hardened with resolve. “No, you’re coming home with me today. If you don’t, Steven and Fiona will start worrying.”

Felicia hesitated, conflicted. “I’ll be fine on my own. Can you just tell them? Why are you so insistent on me going back? Do you want me to humiliate myself in front of them?”

“No, that’s not it at all. Don’t misunderstand. But no matter what you say, I’m taking you home today,” Sebastian said firmly, leaving no room for argument.

He reached out to pull her along, but Felicia stubbornly resisted. With no other choice, he scooped her up and hoisted her onto his shoulders, carrying her toward home.

As they approached the gate, Sebastian noticed Steven and Fiona still chatting happily, seemingly oblivious to the turmoil Felicia was enduring. A wave of relief washed over him.

But when he glanced back at Felicia, his relief vanished. Her face was streaked with tears and flushed red—a raw, heartbreaking sight.

This was the first time he had ever seen her cry so deeply.

His heart clenched painfully. Guilt and sorrow filled him. “Felicia, why are you crying like this? Do you really care for Steven that much? What does he have that I don’t?”

After Fiona and Steven’s tragic deaths, Sebastian had completely lost control. He unleashed all his anger on Felicia, blaming her for the accident. He had manipulated her into falling for him, only to torment her mercilessly.

But after so many lies, he had almost fooled himself too. Over time, his love for Fiona faded, but the bitterness and hatred toward Felicia remained.

Between them lay the shadow of those two deaths. He couldn’t bring himself to forgive her, nor could he let go of the past to open his heart to her.

All of this had led to the painful, bitter ending they now faced.

Sebastian’s regret was overwhelming. He regretted never revealing his true feelings to Felicia. Even before she died, he had doubted her sincerity.

Now, given a second chance in his dreams, he was determined not to let it slip away again.
