"He must be a devil."
"Terrifying. He’s just too terrifying." Everyone, not just those Wu Tian had maimed and left lying on the ground, was now breaking out in a cold sweat.
They had never seen or heard of Wu Tian’s methods. His martial prowess was something beyond human capability, leaving them all stunned. Endless fear filled their eyes, with the sole exception of Qin Yuhan.
Maybe he is a devil, but he’s my devil, here to protect me, Qin Yuhan thought. She was truly at her wit’s end with Zhang Liangcai. Under his coercion, she had felt a humiliation she had never known before. If not for Wu Tian, even if she, as the president, wouldn’t cry, her mood would have been utterly ruined.
However, Qin Yuhan was worried about something else. The men Wu Tian had just crippled, now writhing and wailing on the floor, were no ordinary people. They were veterans of the business world, and their companies and factories had been handed down to their sons and grandsons. Connected, these forces were a power that not even the Qin Family, one of the four great families of Yang City, could afford to contend with.
Qin Yuhan wasn’t worried about the Qin Family, but for Wu Tian’s safety.
Of course, Wu Tian knew what she was thinking. He sighed internally. Silly woman! How could these good-for-nothings possibly threaten me?
Wu Tian reached his left hand into his pocket. Qin Yuhan and the others standing around frowned, wondering what he was doing. What’s in his pocket? A knife? Is he going to kill someone?
But Wu Tian simply took out his phone, sent a few text messages, and slipped it back into his pocket.
What was that for? Qin Yuhan and the others were perplexed.
A moment later, the phone in the president’s office suddenly rang. The receptionist’s voice came through the line. "Miss, there are several people here who say they have an appointment to see you."
"Hm?" Qin Yuhan was confused. Who would be visiting her at a time like this?
"Let them up," Wu Tian said.
Qin Yuhan gave Wu Tian a long, deep look, knowing this had to be his doing. Trusting him, she spoke into the phone, "Let them come up."
The first visitor’s voice arrived before he did.
"Who dares to cause trouble at the Qin Corporation? Do they think nothing of me?"
The voice was booming and powerful. When Xiao Tianzan, the Governor of the Southern Province and the Admiral of the Nine Gates, arrived, countless hearts began to pound.
Qin Yuhan herself was taken aback. Although the Qin Family was one of Yang City’s four great families, what had they ever done to merit a visit from such a dignitary? And why was he here?
"I, Xiao Tianzan, will make this clear right now," he declared. "I will investigate anyone who opposes the Qin Corporation and see if their own businesses have any illegal dealings."
Tang Bogo and the others stared, their eyes wide. The Qin Corporation was backed by the Admiral of the Nine Gates?
The men Wu Tian had crippled, still crying on the floor, were filled with regret. How could this be? It turned out Yuhan had the Admiral of the Nine Gates as her backer. If only they had known sooner, they would never have dared to act this way.
Zhang Liangcai, you bastard! Every single person wailing in agony on the ground now hated Zhang Liangcai to the core.
As for Zhang Liangcai, his throat was still in Wu Tian’s grip. He struggled for breath, unable to die. Suffering a fate worse than death, he hated himself. Why didn’t I investigate properly beforehand?
Learning of Xiao Tianzan’s arrival, Ren Zhong and his son Ren Hou were also bewildered. Why would a major figure like Xiao Tianzan come to the Qin Corporation? As soon as they got the news, they left the dining department, their meter-long lobster not even half-eaten.
"Father, did you invite Governor Xiao Tianzan as well?" Ren Hou asked, his face a mask of surprise and admiration. "You even have connections with the Admiral of the Nine Gates? Father, I don’t think I could manage to invite someone like him in my entire lifetime."
