Zheng Tichen and Murong Dawei walked up, surprised to see Wu Tian there.
"Strange. Grandpa, Grandma, how did you end up with him?" Zheng Tichen chuckled.
His tone grated on the old grandmother. Wu Tian had not only saved her husband, but he also bore a striking resemblance to the Founding Prime Minister. For these two reasons, she snapped, "What kind of tone is that? You will address him as ’Mr.,’ do you understand?"
Upon hearing this, Zheng Tichen’s face changed dramatically. He couldn’t understand why his doting grandmother would act this way.
"If you don’t behave, Grandma won’t love you anymore," the old grandmother declared seriously.
Zheng Tichen’s face twitched. He didn’t know what had just happened, but the gravity of his grandmother’s tone compelled him to lower his head and apologize. "Mr. Wu Tian, I was wrong."
Wu Tian? His surname is really Wu? The same as the Prime Minister’s! Could he be a descendant of the Prime Minister?
The elderly couple exchanged a glance, both filled with joy.
In the past, the Prime Minister had exhausted himself with matters of foreign policy and national development. After his death, a spectacle unfolded as a ten-mile-long procession sent him off. Countless people wept as they watched the hearse depart, many hoping for a miracle that the people’s beloved Prime Minister would rise from his coffin.
Wu Tian, however, paid no attention to Zheng Tichen, seeing no need to concern himself with such an insignificant person. He was surprised, though, that the elderly couple he had saved turned out to be the Family Head of the Zheng Family and the Sect Leader of Hongmen of the Seas.
"Yang City is a nice place," Zheng Tianshi said upon seeing Wu Tian there. "I’ve decided that the Zheng Family will move here."
He was worried that Wu Tian only knew medical techniques and lacked any means of self-defense, which would make him an easy target for bullies. This is a descendant of the Prime Minister. I, Zheng Tianshi, must protect him at all costs.
Wu Tian saw the deep sense of obligation in Zheng Tianshi’s eyes and felt helpless. He didn’t need anyone’s protection.
"Goodbye."
After Hong Mei handed Wu Tian the token for Hongmen of the Seas, he left with Lin Fa and the little one. He couldn’t stand the strange way Zheng Tianshi and Hong Mei were looking at him. Qiu Yulan and Lin Mo hurried to follow.
"Ah, I wanted to have a good talk with the boy," Hong Mei sighed. She wanted to know how he was doing and what had become of the Prime Minister’s descendants. Unfortunately, Wu Tian had already left.
Hong Mei glared at her husband. "It’s all your fault for scaring him off."
"Nonsense," Zheng Tianshi immediately disagreed. "Back in my youth, I, along with the Prime Minister, was considered one of the Four Great Handsome Men of the Republic of China."
Hong Mei rolled her eyes at him. Wanting to know more about Wu Tian, she turned to Zheng Tichen. She knew her eldest grandson was acquainted with Wu Tian and must know something about him.
"Grandma, this Wu Tian is too arrogant, treating you like that. Shall I go teach him a lesson?" Murong Dawei volunteered.
Zheng Tichen had intended to say the same, but Murong Dawei beat him to it, leaving him disappointed.
"What nonsense are you talking about?"
Zheng Tianshi and Hong Mei’s vehement reactions left Murong Dawei stunned. Meanwhile, Zheng Tichen was relieved that Murong Dawei had spoken first. Still, he was frustrated. Why are Grandpa and Grandma so protective of Wu Tian? Could it be that this Wu Tian is also my brother? A long-lost grandson? At the moment, that was the only explanation he could think of.
Zheng Tichen stood to the side, nodding slightly. He also found Wu Tian enigmatic, but he agreed with Murong Dawei’s view. Wu Tian likely couldn’t compare to Ziqi.
"Indeed," Murong Dawei sighed. With Murong Ziqi around, he felt his hopes of becoming the Head of the Murong Family were completely dashed.
Zheng Tianshi and Hong Mei exchanged glances. Hong Mei then clapped her hands, and eight bodyguards immediately formed a perimeter to prevent anyone from approaching.
"In fact, Wu Tian possesses a power that perhaps even he is unaware of," Hong Mei said with a sigh. "Many people followed that great man back in the day. As his descendant, if Wu Tian were to issue a call to arms, an army of thousands would rally to him."
Upon hearing this, Zheng Tichen realized his earlier assumption was wrong; Wu Tian wasn’t a member of the Zheng Family. "Which great man are you talking about?" he asked curiously.
His grandfather is the Family Head of the Zheng Family of Xingyang, and his grandmother is the Sect Leader of Hongmen of the Seas. Who could they possibly refer to with such reverence as ’that great man’?
"That great man is known throughout the country. You should have studied a text in your childhood titled ’The Ten-Mile Procession for the Prime Minister,’ right?"
As Hong Mei spoke, both Zheng Tichen and Murong Dawei were stunned.
And Wu Tian’s surname is Wu! Could he really be the descendant of that legendary figure?
Hong Mei paused, took a deep breath, and continued, "The number of people who followed the Prime Minister was not small. After his death, they scattered across the land but never forgot him. Now, those followers and their descendants have become powerful civil officials and military commanders.
"Just think... if Wu Tian were to issue a call to arms, what kind of power would he command?"
