Where there was one, there would be two.
"I... I also want you to work me over."
"I’m willing to let you work me over, too."
One by one, the burly men looked at Wu Tian. Eager to become stronger, they all ended up following the first man’s example and repeating his words.
The flavor of this conversation seems to have changed! Wu Tian thought as the little one beside him snickered.
"Ahem." Wu Tian cleared his throat, his expression turning serious and cold. "Since you’re all willing, let me be clear upfront. If anyone wants to back out, do it now. But if you try to withdraw later, after I’ve taught you a few things? I will kill you to ensure silence."
The one hundred and eight men looked solemn. They knew Wu Tian would undoubtedly make them stronger, and their blood boiled with excitement. Not a single one of them backed out; they each had their own ambitions.
Wu Tian continued, "Furthermore, I need to tell you one more thing. No matter how I work you over or what comes of it, you are not to answer if your masters, like Xiao Liang and Cui Chong, ask about our training."
The one hundred and eight men nodded. Their masters held Wu Tian in such awe and fear that they certainly wouldn’t be forced to say anything.
"Good." Looking at the group, Wu Tian nodded in approval. "Your brutal training begins tomorrow. You have one day of free time. Go and do whatever you want with it."
Just what kind of training would tomorrow bring? The group of burly men wondered, filled with anticipation.
Wu Tian waved his hand, and the crowd dispersed. All one hundred and eight of them knew that something terrifying awaited them. Their only course of action was to cherish the time they had left.
Wu Tian picked up the little one and left the basement. The space was as large as a football field but completely empty. Who would want to stay in a place like that?
Qin Yuhan was still working, so Wu Tian took the little one to get something to eat.
Few cities earned the title of a gourmet capital, but Yang City was one of them. It was said that the people of Yang City were famous throughout the country for their love of food and their discerning palates. The exaggerated claim was that they would eat anything with four legs except a table. Sparrows, partridges, pangolins, bats, seals, rats, cats, dogs, snakes, monkeys, and turtles—over a thousand ingredients could be turned into delicacies on their tables. Even the rice worm, often mistaken for a leech by the uninitiated, was on the menu. Once in a chef’s hands, it could be transformed into an exquisite delicacy, astonishing Chinese and foreign diners alike.
The little one opened her mouth, wanting Wu Tian to feed her. He held a grilled skewer to her lips, and she ate it with great relish.
Suddenly, Wu Tian’s Spiritual Sense detected something, and a slight smile touched his lips. He sensed that a master even stronger than Huang Xuantian and the Arrow King had arrived on this very street.
Who could it be? Wu Tian wondered. Another one of the Seven Saints of Dragon Country?
Having wiped out the Cui family of Boling, Wu Tian knew the Sword Emperor had other tricks up his sleeve. Is this person one of the Seven Saints, sent by the Sword Emperor to kill me?
Wu Tian wasn’t worried; in fact, he found the situation rather amusing. But spending time with his daughter was the priority, and he had no time for a fight. He released a sliver of his aura as a warning to the newcomer: he was busy and not to be disturbed.
"Wu Fa, it’s rare for us to be out, and even rarer to be in Yang City. We should take that child, Wu Tian, back with us," Wang Cai suggested again.
"We need to consider that matter carefully," Wu Fa replied.
He had his own reservations. Life in Ghost Valley wasn’t peaceful. Wu Tian and Murong Yezi were doing well in the city, so why should they return? Why drag them back into that trouble? That was his first reason. The second was that while Wu Fa was a man of steel, his family was his weakness. He didn’t know how he could face Murong Yezi. He didn’t know how to face Wu Tian, either. And if he did bring them back, how could he possibly face his own daughter, Yue’er?
Wu Tian went to buy a drink, leaving the little one alone at their table. He wasn’t worried; with his Spiritual Sense active, no movement could escape his notice.
The little one sat by herself, happily eating. She took a bite from a roasted lamb leg in her left hand, then a bite from a grilled chicken wing in her right. She loved to eat; as long as there was food, she was happy.
While buying the drink, Wu Tian’s Spiritual Sense noted two martial artists approaching his daughter. He wasn’t concerned. Although they were more powerful than the little one, capturing her would be no easy feat.
Sensing something, the little one quickly put down her food, grabbed a napkin to wipe her mouth, and then clasped her hands behind her back, sitting with a suddenly prim and proper posture.
The people nearby stared in astonishment. She was such a foodie a moment ago! How did she turn into such a prim little lady?
At that moment, Wu Fa and Wang Cai arrived. Wu Fa had only investigated Murong Yezi and Wu Tian; he had no information on the little girl. The Qin Corporation was the local power, and the child’s information was very well protected.
Before Wu Fa or Wang Cai could speak, the little one addressed them with an imposing air, "Who are you two? Are you here to challenge me?"
