Inside the examination room, invigilators paced about. They were teachers from Jixia Academy's elementary division, and they would occasionally stand beside the children to see how they were progressing on their exams. One female teacher stopped behind a little girl. After glancing at her exam paper, the teacher's eyes widened, and she froze on the spot. Noticing her reaction, the other teachers walked over, curious about what was on the girl's paper. When they saw it, their pupils widened slightly as well. After the little girl finished her essay, the teachers exchanged a glance and nodded.
"Child, where is your guardian?" the female teacher kindly asked.
The little girl pointed to Wu Tian outside the window.
The female teacher looked over, and her eyes lit up. What a refined man.
"Her family must be very learned," a middle-aged teacher remarked with emotion.
"Let's not get into that," the oldest teacher chuckled. He then looked at the little girl and said, "Take your exam paper and come with me."
Under his guidance, the little girl took her paper and left the examination room.
The other children in the room had no idea what was happening. Some immediately suspected she was cheating. A few cleverer ones, however, looked on with envy. They guessed that the little girl must have done exceptionally well on her language exam and might be allowed to skip a grade. Whether they themselves could skip a grade would depend on their performance on the remaining exams.
「Wu Tian also followed the teachers, heading to the principal's office.」
The principal's office was a distinctive, single-story wooden cabin painted white, built in a European style.
When Wu Tian and the little girl entered, they saw the same elderly man who had been selling mung bean soup earlier, now typing on a keyboard.
"What brings you here?" the elderly man asked, though his tone held no surprise.
After all, Wu Tian was now quite famous in Yang City, and the little girl was not without her own reputation as the champion of the Divine Doctor Conference.
"Principal," one of the teachers began, "you know I teach in the elementary division. This child's writing, her syntax and punctuation, is already at a middle school level. I don't believe she's suited to remain in elementary school."
"Is that so?" the elderly man chuckled, turning his gaze to the little girl again. "And what do you think?"
The little girl thought for a moment, then calmly met the elderly man's gaze and spoke confidently. "Respected grandfather, I don't really want to be an elementary school student. I'd be fine in middle school, and I think I can handle the work. I can't claim to know all Three Hundred Tang Poems, but I definitely know all the ancient poems that elementary students learn. As for other subjects, I used to get bored at home by myself, so I used the computer to learn quite a bit. I should be at the level of an elementary school graduate. If you don't believe me, you can give me an exam to prove it, right?"
The middle-aged teacher looked at the girl skeptically, but the elderly man's eyes lit up. When speaking of literary geniuses, many people thought of foreigners. Dragon Country had plenty of its own, yet they were often subconsciously overlooked. People were quick to mention names like Edison and Einstein, especially from the modern era.
The elderly man looked at Wu Tian and smiled. "My surname is Kong, my given name is Zhiyuan, and my style name is Datong. Your child wishes to skip to middle school, but that depends on whether you, as her guardian, agree."
"I agree," Wu Tian replied without the slightest hesitation.
