Xiao Shimin returned to the Heavenly King Country, his head hung low.
When the Empress learned that Xiao Shimin had failed to get justice for Heavenly Emperor Xiao Tian, she was furious. "How could this happen?" she said through clenched teeth. "Our son was a top-tier talent! Wu Tian was there, yet he failed to protect him, leading to our son’s tragic death. A genius was lost! How can he not apologize?"
"Master Yang was present. What could I have done?" Xiao Shimin said helplessly. "The Array Masters Guild stands behind Master Yang. How can we possibly move against them?"
The Empress sighed. If Heavenly Emperor Xiao Tian were still alive, he would have become Master Yang’s disciple. At that point, the Array Masters Guild would have been a pillar of support for their Heavenly King Country. But instead, Heavenly Emperor Xiao Tian was dead, and she believed it was all Wu Tian’s fault. Since he was able to defeat Yanxi, he clearly had the ability to protect my son! So why did he fail? This grudge must be avenged!
Xiao Shimin, however, had already decided to give up. He was an emperor, after all. To others, it might seem he had no son left to carry on his legacy, but emperors were notoriously licentious. He had illegitimate children among the commoners! He could simply nurture one of them and then plead with Master Yang to accept the boy as a disciple!
But the Empress did not share his line of thinking. Her last son, Heavenly Emperor Xiao Tian, was dead. The grudge had to be avenged.

Meanwhile, in Duke Guang’s Mansion, Master Yang was explaining himself nonstop, fearing Wu Tian would blame him for his connection to Xiao Shimin. Wu Tian shook his head and smiled wryly. He had already said he didn’t mind, but Master Yang felt compelled to give a long-winded explanation anyway. Wu Tian was growing tired of it.
"Enough," Wu Tian said, waving his hand. "Let’s get back to the matter at hand. Why did you come to see me?"
"It’s like this," Master Yang said with a nod, then sighed as if recalling something. "Sir, you must know that I intend to establish a branch of the Array Masters Guild in this region, correct?"
What nonsense. The news is all over the place; who doesn’t know? Wu Tian hated wasting time. "If you don’t get to the point, I’m going to have to show you out."
"No, no, please don’t!" Yang Ziwei panicked and quickly got to the point. "Actually, a rival of mine forced me down to this remote region. He isn’t satisfied with that, though, and is arranging some kind of competition. If no one from my new branch can defeat the person he sends, I’ll be deemed unqualified to establish it. I’ll be forced to... become a simple, unaffiliated Array Master from then on."
An Array Master without the backing of an organization was in grave danger.
"So that’s how it is," Wu Tian nodded. "Who will he send?"
"It will likely be an Array Master who possesses Fifth Grade Formations," Yang Ziwei said with a troubled expression. "I... I’m not confident I can win. So, I’m asking you to step in. Temporarily act as an Array Master for my branch and face the challenger."
As his words fell, Yang Ziwei looked at Wu Tian with great expectation.
"I don’t have time," Wu Tian replied flatly. He wouldn’t do something if there was no benefit in it for him. He was no saint. Why should he help if there was nothing to gain? What did other people’s business have to do with him?
Yang Ziwei grew anxious. What? He refused? Then, an idea struck him. "I will definitely not let you suffer a loss."
Wu Tian just grunted, signaling for Yang Ziwei to continue.
Why is he acting like such a cunning old fox? Yang Ziwei was shocked but continued, "If you help me with this, then in the future... you will be the president."
Hearing this, Wu Tian finally cracked a smile. Even if it’s just the president of a branch guild, there are still significant benefits to be had!
Wu Tian nodded. Of course, he had other things to consider. For example, what would happen to Xiuyuan Country if he left?
Master Yang, who had been standing by, was stunned. Wu Tian actually has connections with the Dog Clan? In this region, the Dog Clan is the most revered among the Beast Clans! The Demon Clan doesn’t even have a presence here. What exactly is Wu Tian’s relationship with the Dog Clan?
Wu Tian smiled, knowing she was just speaking out of pique. Comforting a child was easy once you knew the trick. As a stay-at-home dad, Wu Tian mused that he had already found the knack for it.
Next, Wu Tian entered the Heavenly Emperor’s Treasure House within the Nine Dragon Ring. There, he found the legacy of Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad: the Doushuai Temple.
What was the relationship between Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad and the Great Pure One from the Three Pure Ones? Wu Tian had his suspicions.
The Doushuai Temple inside the Heavenly Emperor’s Treasure House was deathly silent. That famed Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad, his two acolytes, and his ox were nowhere to be found. This Doushuai Temple might have once been glorious, grand, and spectacular, shrouded in the light of immortals. But now, it too had aged. Covered in a thick layer of dust, it looked no different from a palace in the Mundane World.
When Wu Tian stepped inside, the first thing he saw was the massive Furnace of Eight Trigrams. It was so large that it would take three burly men holding hands to encircle it. Having lost its master, the Furnace of Eight Trigrams now looked like an ordinary object. It was said that the furnace was the supreme treasure used by Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad for alchemy and crafting magical treasures. Inside it burned the Liu Ding Divine Fire, one of the four great heavenly fires. In the myths of *Journey to the West*, most of the top-tier magical treasures came from the Furnace of Eight Trigrams.
Looking closer, Wu Tian spotted a fan shaped like a palm leaf lying on the ground like a piece of trash, equally covered in dust. He knew this was the Palm Leaf Fan. In truth, there were two Palm Leaf Fans. One was of the ultimate Yin, capable of extinguishing fire; the other was of the ultimate Yang, capable of creating fire. They were a true Yin and Yang pair. The utterly Yin Palm Leaf Fan was naturally the one belonging to Princess Iron Fan; one wave could extinguish fire, a second could generate wind, and a third could bring rain. The other was the one from the Doushuai Temple, which could create fire.
Wu Tian stepped closer and discovered that there was another object hidden beneath the Palm Leaf Fan. He gently lifted the fan, sending dust billowing into the air, and revealed the Vajra Hoop!
Wu Tian had a deep impression of this item. This was because the item, also known as the Vajra Hoop, had endless and wondrous uses. It could transform, was impervious to water and fire, could strike any target, and was capable of capturing all sorts of magical treasures. In the myths, Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, had suffered greatly because of this very hoop.
The Doushuai Temple was enormous. As Wu Tian wandered around, he saw the Purple Gold Red Gourd, the Suet Jade Flask, and the Golden Cloth Rope, all of them covered in dust.
But at this moment, what Wu Tian needed were not these treasures, but the books lining the shelves. There were books on alchemy and also books on formations. Among them were records of the *Cosmic Stars Great Formation*, the *Heavenly God-Fiend Great Formation*, and the *Primordial Chaos River Luo Great Formation*.
