"Whom are you looking for?" Si’er asked, seated on the throne.
"Certainly not someone useless," Lan Zhan said arrogantly. "My Mountain Sect only seeks out the most capable people."
"Unfortunately, my Sea Sect is also looking for him. He’s mine, and he will only follow me," Qing Taishen said, shaking his head and getting straight to the point. "We’re looking for Wu Tian."
"Then we shall see whom he chooses to follow," Lan Zhan huffed. "I’m looking for Wu Tian. Where is he?"
"Why are you looking for Wu Tian?" Si’er’s expression changed as he asked anxiously.
"Don’t worry, it’s good news," Lan Zhan said with a smile. "Anyone in this position would wake up laughing from sheer joy."
He glanced at the guards again and commanded coldly, "What are you all standing around for? Bring Wu Tian to me now, or I’ll kill you."
"I am here," a faint voice suddenly sounded.
Lan Zhan and Qing Taishen both looked over.
"Speak. What do you want with me?"
They hadn’t expected Wu Tian to be so young and refined. Lan Zhan laughed. "It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m Lan Zhan from the Mountain Sect. It’s one of the branches of the Mountain and Sea Sect, and also the strongest one. It..."
"Cut the crap," Wu Tian interrupted, frowning slightly. "Just tell me what you want."
Lan Zhan grew angry.
"Nothing more to say? Then leave," Wu Tian glanced at him and said lazily.
Damn it! Lan Zhan never expected to be treated this way.
Qing Taishen was pleased to see Lan Zhan get put in his place. He said cheerfully, "Wu Tian, I’m not like him. I don’t waste time. I’ll state my purpose directly: my Sea Sect hopes you will join us."
"You want me to join? As a Disciple, an Elder, or the Sect Leader?" Wu Tian asked with a slight smile. "I won’t be a Disciple."
The conversation between Wu Tian and Qing Taishen left the guards astonished, and Si’er was equally shocked. The guards exchanged glances, feeling utterly deflated in comparison.
"If I were invited to join the Mountain and Sea Sect, even as a Disciple, I’d wake up laughing."
"This Mr. Wu Tian is far too arrogant."
"Indeed. The Mountain and Sea Sect is a Four-Star power; they’re no small matter."
"If I were a Disciple of the Mountain and Sea Sect, I’d receive respectful treatment wherever I went just by stating my identity."
"It would be amazing. I wish the Mountain and Sea Sect valued me."
A wave of envy, jealousy, and resentment washed over the guards. But Wu Tian? He didn’t want to be a Disciple?
"You don’t want to be a Disciple?" Lan Zhan huffed. "I’m just a Disciple myself. Are you saying you’re better than me?"
Qing Taishen glanced at Lan Zhan with disdain. All brawn and no brains. He then said to Wu Tian, "Brother Wu Tian, as long as you work hard, becoming an Elder or even the Sect Master is possible."
This statement was deliberately ambiguous, implying that becoming the Sect Master depended on Wu Tian’s own efforts, not their assistance.
Just as Wu Tian was about to respond, his Spiritual Sense suddenly detected that Qin Yuhan was in danger. He was no longer in the mood to play along with these two.
"Get lost."
The Mountain and Sea Sect? In my eyes, it’s just the product of children’s games. Not even worth mentioning.
Lan Zhan was dumbfounded. How could this be? The boulders created by my Great Stone-Guarding Spirit Body... why didn’t they stop him? They weren’t shattered; they just sank back into the ground on their own. This is simply unfathomable.
