Return of the Immortal Emperor Daddy novel Chapter 747

Chapter 747: Chapter 750: Public Trial of a Hundred Nations [5/7]

The Monarch of Qin Country was furious. What on earth is wrong with this daughter of mine? Why can’t she be like the princesses from the other countries? When a sovereign commands a subject’s death, the subject must die. When a father demands his child’s demise, the child must perish. One must obey the commands of their parents and the words of the matchmakers. Her Royal Father wants her to enter a marriage alliance, so she cannot resist. And this Ye Qingxian... what is wrong with her? Does she want to be like Wu Tian, a person who scorns the rules and ethics of the world?

"What am I supposed to do?" Ye Qingxian asked, her expression calm and indifferent. "I don’t believe I’ve done anything wrong."

"What did you say? You defiant girl!" the Monarch of Qin Country roared. They were at the gates of the royal capital of Xiuyuan Country, with people coming and going, including other monarchs and Sect Leaders. He felt utterly humiliated. In his rage, he raised his hand to slap Ye Qingxian across the cheek.

Ye Qingxian dodged. The missed slap only fueled the Monarch’s fury. "Defiant girl! You dare to disobey your own father? Do you realize this is a grave sin of filial impiety?"

Rui’er seized the opportunity to add, "This gentleman is right. A daughter must be filial to her parents. If my own Royal Father and Royal Mother ordered me to die, I would obey without question."

Rui’er’s father and mother nodded, thinking how wonderfully well-behaved their daughter was.

When a father demands his child’s demise, the child must perish. This was the natural order of heaven and earth, the righteous principle of the mortal realm.

"Indeed," the other monarchs and Sect Leaders agreed one by one. "Ye Qingxian may be formidable, but she is grievously unfilial."

"A person like her cannot compare to Rui’er."

"Indeed."

The Monarch of Qin Country pointed a trembling finger at Ye Qingxian and bellowed, "I, your father, order you to kneel and admit your mistake! Have you no regard for basic ethics and principles?"

A scornful smile touched Ye Qingxian’s lips. "Whatever debt I owed you, I have already repaid."

"What did you say?" The Monarch of Qin’s eyes widened, his anger uncontrollable.

"In the year 3015 of the Qin Country, Baishan Country invaded. Their troops pushed straight to the capital, and it was on the verge of falling. It was I who turned the tide, defeating a superior force with only five thousand soldiers.

"In the year 3037 of the Qin Country, a first-rank minister harbored treasonous ambitions, throwing the kingdom into turmoil. It was I who saved the very foundation of our nation.

"And in the year 3039—"

"Enough! That’s enough!" The Monarch of Qin Country couldn’t bear to hear another word. He felt no guilt, only rage that Ye Qingxian was reopening old wounds and humiliating him.

"The debt has been repaid," Ye Qingxian stated righteously.

The Monarch of Qin Country was so enraged he wanted to lunge forward and slap his defiant daughter, but just then, Wu Tian, Si’er, and the others arrived.

Si’er spoke with authority, her voice cutting through the tension. "You have all come to our Xiuyuan Country, yet you cause a commotion before the city gates. What is the meaning of this?" A disturbance at the capital gates would of course not escape the notice of Si’er and her people. After learning the identities of those involved, Si’er had decided to intervene personally. Wu Tian, Qin Yuhan, and the little one, finding themselves bored, had tagged along.

At the sight of Wu Tian, the Monarch of Qin Country temporarily set aside his hatred for his daughter.

"Wu Tian, your timing is perfect," Rui’er’s father said, stepping forward angrily. "You owe us an explanation for this recent string of murders!"

"A string of murders?" Wu Tian was stunned. What was this all about? He had no idea what they were talking about.

"That’s right, a string of murders," one of the monarchs declared furiously. "My poor son! He may have liked to dally with women, but his actions were hardly excessive. Why did you kill him?"

The other monarchs nodded, each speaking up in turn. They described how good their sons and daughters were, how they weren’t truly wicked, and demanded to know why Wu Tian had murdered their children.

Wu Tian said nothing. He didn’t understand, so he met their accusations with silence.

Ye Qingxian’s brow furrowed slightly. "There is something suspicious about this matter," she said.

Some of the monarchs began to calm down, though others continued to clamor.

One of the more composed monarchs stepped forward. "Wu Tian, you are the prime suspect in these serial killings. Whether you did it or not, you must submit to a tribunal."

"Yes, a Joint Tribunal of the Hundred Nations!"

"In three days, the Joint Tribunal of the Hundred Nations will convene, and we will all interrogate you."

"That’s right," they all affirmed, their gazes fixed on Wu Tian.

Chapter 747 - 750: Public Trial of a Hundred Nations [5/7] 1

For my own good? A dangerous glint flashed in Wu Tian’s eyes. "You want to put me on trial just because you feel like it? And you call that ’for my own good’? Isn’t that just a waste of my time?"

Even Rui’er felt a sense of ominous dread creeping into her heart. Could it be? Does Wu Tian not care about the so-called greater good? Does he not care about being branded a criminal? Does Wu Tian care about nothing at all? He just kills whenever he wants?
