"The continent is in chaos because the kings of the hundred nations and the leaders of the hundred sects have all died," the Seahorse General said. "That provided us with an opportunity."
"The kings of the hundred nations and the leaders of the hundred sects all died at the same time?" The Emperor of the Azure Empire found this hard to believe, and Zhan Sha’s eyes widened in shock. How could such a thing be possible? What on earth could have happened?
"Those kings and sect leaders heard their families had been brutally murdered," the Seahorse General explained. "They suspected the same person and went to seek justice, but he slaughtered every last one of them."
The Emperor of the Azure Empire’s brow furrowed. "And the Law Enforcers? Did they not intervene?"
The continent was in turmoil, which gave the Azure Empire a pretext to step in and "stabilize the world." Such an action would be permitted by the Law Enforcers.
"The Law Enforcers?" The Seahorse General gave a bitter laugh, a look of horror flashing in his eyes. "Hah, that man dares to kill even the Law Enforcers."
"What?" the Emperor of the Azure Empire exclaimed, stunned.
"Who is he?" Zhan Sha demanded.
"Wu Tian."
"What? It’s him?"
The Emperor of the Azure Empire and Zhan Sha spoke in unison, their eyes wide. They exchanged a look, their expressions growing even more complicated. To think it was Wu Tian again!
The Emperor sighed and turned to Zhan Sha. "Do you still have confidence now?"
"Yes," Zhan Sha replied through clenched teeth, snorting. "The more powerful he becomes, the more worthy he is of being defeated by me! I have pored over military texts and trained countless generals. I have been waiting for this chance to prove myself on the battlefield. Wu Tian? He will be nothing more than a stepping stone on my path to becoming a legendary general."
Zhan Sha’s fighting spirit was indomitable. Hearing that Wu Tian had even killed Law Enforcers didn’t frighten him; it only fueled his desire for battle.
Seeing this, the Emperor of the Azure Empire nodded in satisfaction. He, too, was pleased by Wu Tian’s strength. Because Wu Tian was formidable, he could help forge a truly great general. To the Emperor of the Azure Empire, Wu Tian was a whetstone.
Meanwhile, in the Xiuyuan Royal Palace, Wu Tian had a faint smile on his face as he explained some of the difficulties on the cultivation path to the little one, Dao Feng, and the others. He had no idea that far away, across the ocean in the Azure Empire, he was being viewed as a stepping stone and a whetstone.
If he knew, he would have let out a cold, wild laugh. Throughout history, anyone who dared to use him as a stepping stone or a whetstone had died a miserable death.
"Do you remember what I said?"
"Yes, Sect Leader," Dao Feng and the others responded in unison.
They all listened intently to Wu Tian’s lecture. Indeed, it was more than just an explanation; it was a sermon on the Martial Path. After he finished, Dao Feng and the others felt as if the Martial Path concepts that had always eluded them were suddenly crystal clear. Having a Sect Leader like Wu Tian, they felt, was a blessing of three lifetimes.
"I have matters to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now. Continue your cultivation."
"Yes, Sect Leader," Dao Feng and the others replied.
Wu Tian smiled, then departed. His Spiritual Sense had detected new life forms in the river within the Royal Palace grounds, and he decided to go and investigate.
