After he finished, the expressions on both Bruno and Aubrey's faces darkened.
Bruno turned to Anastasia first. "And what was your diagnosis?"
Anastasia calmly stated her findings.
The moment she finished, Aubrey rounded on Steven. "What were you saying just now? You've been practicing for decades, and you made a mistake like this? And you have the nerve to call my student disrespectful and unprofessional? Humph! If she hadn't said anything, your blunder would have been unforgivable!"
Steven shrank back under Aubrey's fury, his face flushing red as he struggled to find a rebuttal, but nothing came to mind.
Meanwhile, the Clarks were completely stunned.
"Mr. Austin, Mr. Brown... did Mr. Parker really misdiagnose her?"
Bruno nodded. "He did. Fortunately, it was caught early before any serious harm was done. And don't worry, now that we know what it is, it's not difficult to treat. We'll write you a prescription, and she should be fully recovered in about six months."
The Clarks were overwhelmed with gratitude, so emotional they could barely speak. At the same time, a wave of fear washed over them.
If Anastasia hadn't intervened, the consequences would have been dire!
"Thank you, thank you, Mr. Austin, Mr. Brown! And thank you, Ms. Sterling!" Marlon looked as if he was about to kneel before Anastasia.
Anastasia stopped him. "I was just doing what any doctor should."
Bruno shook his head in disapproval. "This is a matter of life and death. The patient and his family are being incredibly gracious by not holding him accountable. For him to show no remorse or humility... that attitude is just...!"
After they wrote out the prescription for Mrs. Clark, Marlon saw the three of them out, thanking them profusely all the way to the door.
Bruno was extremely pleased with Anastasia's performance. "Mrs. Clark's condition wasn't simple," he said admiringly. "Even Steven misdiagnosed it. The fact that you could see it is very impressive."
Anastasia grinned. "Does this mean you'll finally take me on as your student?"
Bruno sighed. "We'll have to wait for Mr. Reed to make his decision. He said he wants to see more of your work, but I think you have a very good chance."
His top priority was still finding the person who cured Mr. Harrison Lancaster, but a talent as bright as Anastasia certainly had a shot...
