Hearing that from the other end of the line, Harrison instantly understood the danger Anastasia was still in. A murderous glint flashed in his dark eyes.
“Don’t be afraid, Ana. I’m on my way,” he said, his voice a gentle comfort, but his face was a mask of cold, brutal fury that completely contradicted his tone.
He hung up and commanded, “Get there. Now!”
The driver obeyed without a flicker of hesitation. In the passenger seat, Logan glanced into the rearview mirror and felt his breath catch for a second. It felt as if the old Mr. Harrison Lancaster had returned.
It wasn't that Mr. Harrison Lancaster had gone soft; it was just that as a man with something to lose, his actions had become much more restrained over the years, the raw ferocity all but gone.
Until now…
Harrison’s words instantly put Anastasia at ease.
But at that moment, another car swerved in front of them, trapping their vehicle in a pincer move with the car behind them!
Anastasia’s heart plummeted.
A man got out of the car in front, a thuggish aura clinging to him. He looked vaguely familiar.
Anastasia looked closer and immediately recognized him. It was York, Queena’s suitor from her past life and Yves’s brother!
With a cigarette dangling from his lips, York strode forward and kicked the hood of their car with vicious force. “Ms. Sterling, are you going to get out on your own, or should I have my men *invite* you out?”
“They can invite you, of course, but if that happens, you probably won’t be the only one who suffers!”
Anastasia’s gaze turned icy.
She made a slight move—
—but an arm suddenly grabbed hers.
She turned her head. It was Lester.
“Don’t get out!” he said, his clear eyes filled with genuine worry. “The police should be here soon. Whatever he’s planning, he won’t succeed!”
Anastasia paused for a moment, then gave a faint smile and shook her head. “Don’t worry, I have no intention of getting out.”
