Something very important?
Anastasia raised an eyebrow.
She and Serena had never met before. What important business could there possibly be between them?
She didn't want to waste her time here, but seeing Serena's pleading and cautious eyes, she nodded. "A meal won't be necessary. If you have something to say, Ms. Mitchell, you can say it directly."
Seeing her agree, Serena's expression relaxed. "Then could we find a place to sit and talk?"
Anastasia nodded.
A few minutes later, the two entered a nearby café.
As Anastasia sat down, wondering what Serena could possibly want from her, the other woman spoke, getting straight to the point.
"Ms. Sterling, I'm begging you, please give Timothy back to me!"
Anastasia's hand, which had just reached for her cup, froze. She looked up at the woman opposite her, who was watching her with pleading eyes, her posture incredibly deferential.
Her lips thinned into a line. This was absurd. "What did you say?"
"I know everything. The person Timothy has fallen for is you!" Serena said. "Timothy and I have been engaged for almost two years. We were supposed to get married this year, but now..."
"Ms. Mitchell!" Anastasia cut her off, her expression cold and impatient. "I'm not interested in the affairs between you and your fiancé. I will only state one thing: I have no relationship with Timothy. If this is why you've sought me out, then you've got the wrong person!"
"Ms. Mitchell, what you're saying is completely ridiculous! Since you know who I am, you should also know that I am married and have a very good relationship with my husband. Furthermore, I barely even know your fiancé!"
"Your fiancé is the one harassing me, which makes me the victim here! Instead of reining him in, you come to me with this nonsense. What is your intention? What, is it my fault for being attractive?"
This was a high-end café, so it was inevitable that some of the patrons would recognize Anastasia. She didn't want her reputation ruined for no reason, and she absolutely wouldn't allow it to affect Harrison. Therefore, her voice was sharp and clear, not deliberately hushed.
Sure enough, the patrons who heard her were taken aback, and their strange looks now shifted toward Serena.
Anastasia was annoyed by Serena's manipulative tactics. It reminded her of Penelope, though it seemed Serena was much better at putting on an act. She couldn't believe she had completely misjudged her at first glance.
"Even if you have some misunderstanding about me, Ms. Mitchell, I have made things clear now. I hope you'll go back and keep a tight leash on your fiancé and stop him from bothering me again. For that, I would be most grateful!"
