Susan was instantly overjoyed.
Anastasia said, "Carter—"
"I'm leaving now." Carter looked at her, his gaze lingering for two seconds. Despite his efforts to hide it, a flicker of pain showed in his eyes. Without waiting for Anastasia to say anything else, he pulled Susan along and quickly left.
Anastasia took a couple of steps to follow but ultimately stopped herself.
Watching Susan's retreating back, she couldn't suppress the frustration welling up inside her. But seeing the chaos at the scene, she temporarily pushed down her anger and walked quickly to Marina's side. "Mom, are you okay?"
"I'm fine. What are you two doing here?"
"I came as soon as I heard the news."
Marina glanced in the direction Carter and Susan had gone. They had already gotten into a car and driven away.
Her feelings were complicated. "Carter…"
"He just agreed to go with Susan. They've left for now."
Marina looked away, her mood souring.
Even though she didn't take Susan seriously, she was utterly disgusted by the scene Susan had caused today.
How could she not see Susan's objective? Was she afraid Marina would steal her son? Hah, ridiculous!
That boy, Carter… he certainly wasn't unlikable. But with Susan in the picture, she probably wouldn't have any more contact with him in the future.
"I still have a few scenes to shoot today. Are you heading back first, or will you wait for me?" Marina asked.
Anastasia glanced at the commotion by the entrance and shook her head. "I'll handle things out here. You should go back inside, Mom."
The paparazzi had captured a lot of footage today, and it needed to be dealt with to prevent it from getting online.
Her tone was cool, but it carried an authority that couldn't be underestimated. No one took her threat as a joke.
After she finished, Anastasia gave her bodyguards a look. "Return their equipment. If anything was damaged, compensate them for its full value."
With that sorted out, Anastasia turned to head back into the studio to find Marina.
Just then, a familiar car pulled up at the entrance.
Anastasia's expression softened, and a smile instinctively appeared on her face as she hurried over.
The car door opened, and Harrison's handsome, indifferent face came into view.
As the man with an extraordinary presence stepped out of the car, Anastasia ran to him.
"Hubby! What are you doing here?"
