Jiang Cheng had a lively chat for over forty minutes with her old friend and confidant, Grandma Shen.
Only after Shen Xing came knocking, did the two reluctantly come out.
Once the five of them were seated in a circle, Shen Que openly served Jiang Cheng some food.
"No scallions."
The crispy green pepper potato slices were in Jiang Cheng’s bowl, and she openly looked at Shen Que.
"I like eating it."
Their open interaction left Shen Xing and Shen Yue dumbfounded.
Shen Xing, whose head was full of knowledge, was a step behind Shen Yue.
Shen Yue’s mouth was wide open, and her large eyes stared at Jiang Cheng.
"Sister, did you and big brother go on a blind date?"
In Shen Yue’s understanding, going on a blind date was almost like being family.
Before Jiang Cheng could respond, Shen Xing was genuinely shocked.
After the shock came joy.
Sister Jiang Cheng and big brother together, now they really would be family!
Shen Xing looked at Shen Que, and Shen Yue looked at Jiang Cheng.
"Yes, Ms. Jiang Cheng and I are officially dating with the intention of marriage."
Jiang Cheng tilted her head?
With the intent of marriage?
She didn’t recall saying that.
But when she met Shen Que’s gaze, which looked like a little puppy afraid of being abandoned, Jiang Cheng got nervous.
Compared to Shen Que, she felt like a scumbag.
"That’s right, having a relationship without the intention of marriage is just fooling around, so we’re seriously dating."
After Jiang Cheng said this, she saw the ice melt away in Shen Que’s pupils, replaced by the vibrant energy of spring.
Their affirmations made Shen Xing and Shen Yue so happy they jumped around.
After a few minutes of joy, they finally sat down to eat at Grandma Shen’s invitation.
After dinner, Shen Que generously handed gifts to Jiang Cheng.
Jiang Cheng straightforwardly accepted them.
"I really like it, especially this radio."
Jiang Cheng was so fond of the radio that she couldn’t put it down, and Shen Que pointedly said, "The first thing I bought was the radio."
The two exchanged a smile, while Shen Xing and Shen Yue stood by with silly grins, wishing the two could get married on the spot.
In the end, Jiang Cheng shared some snacks with Shen Xing and Shen Yue, keeping only a little to take back with her.
After returning, the study group resumed, translation continued, reading and learning went on.
Same for Shen Que.
Being caught up in romance didn’t stop him from making progress in his studies.
That night, before bed.
Three groups of people visited Shen Que’s room one after another.
Shen Xing came first.
"Big brother, if you’re not good to Sister Jiang Cheng, I’m prepared to exercise my rights as the second son of the Shen Family to expel you."
Shen Que wanted to laugh but still seriously replied, "That day will never come."
Shen Xing left temporarily satisfied, and then Shen Yue came.
"Big brother! If you and Sister Jiang Cheng ever fight, I’ll definitely take her side!"
"Alright, I support you!"
Shen Yue left too, and Shen Que simply didn’t close the door, waiting for Grandma Shen to come.
And sure enough, Grandma Shen came.
But she had just stepped a foot in the door when she pulled it back out.
"Forget it, I don’t need to remind you of anything with that silly look."
Grandma Shen left.
Shen Que chuckled helplessly, did he really look so silly?
*
The next morning, Grandma Shen made breakfast.
Today was the day Shen Que was appointed director of the machinery factory, so Grandma Shen made a lavish breakfast.
Almost as important as breakfast on a child’s exam day.
After the meal, Grandma Shen handed Shen Que his briefcase.
"Got everything?"
