Rich in the 70s: I Made a Rugged Veteran a Millionaire novel Chapter 34

Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Suddenly Hearing Japanese

Du Yun is about to give birth.

In the courtyard, everyone who was at home came out.

It’s normal for us to have disagreements, but when something happens, everyone really helps out.

Upon hearing the news, Jiang Cheng immediately turned around and went back into her house.

When she came out again, she was holding a small bundle of noodles and five eggs as she entered Durant’s home.

The house of Du Yun is three rooms on the west side of the main house, next to Uncle Sun’s home, divided into four bedrooms inside.

Du Yun married the second son of the Li family, and eight people in the family squeeze in together.

"Aunt Li, I’m here to see Sister Du Yun."

Jiang Cheng, with a bright smile, lifted the curtain and went inside. Du Yun’s mother-in-law, Aunt Li, immediately noticed what she was holding.

Aunt Li’s stern face suddenly cracked into a smile as she reached out with both hands to take the things.

"You didn’t have to bring anything just to come."

"It’s the least I could do."

Jiang Cheng agreed as she walked into the inner room and saw Du Yun lying there.

"Sister Du Yun, I brought you some noodles and eggs. I heard that having something to eat gives you strength, so you should ask Aunt Li to cook some for you later."

Jiang Cheng immediately mentioned the items she brought, causing Aunt Li’s smile to fade slightly.

She was thinking of giving them to her eldest grandson; this girl sure spoke quickly.

Du Yun, lying on the bed, understood her mother-in-law well. Any bit of food, she would think of her eldest grandson, not knowing whether the child in her womb is a boy or a girl.

"Sister Du Yun, I have to take over a shift; you rest assured and give birth. Once you’re done with your confinement, come find me."

"Oh, okay!"

Jiang Cheng’s words really comforted Du Yun; that was the purpose of her visit.

A junkyard job was never Jiang Cheng’s goal, no need to keep others waiting.

As Jiang Cheng left, the Li family started bustling around.

After leaving the Li family’s place, Jiang Cheng walked with Shen Yue and took her to school.

Before going out in the morning, Jiang Cheng advised Grandma Shen that it would be best if someone could pick her up after school.

Grandma Shen knew that Jiang Cheng wouldn’t say such things without reason, so she agreed without question.

At the junkyard, Jiang Cheng chatted with everyone as usual, cleaned the office, and worked.

Even though Sister Wang wasn’t around in recent days, Jiang Cheng didn’t slack off in organizing records; she even sped up a bit.

When the manager came over in the morning to inquire about the progress, he left with a smile on his face.

That distant relative of Du Yun saw this and pursed his lips, intending to visit Du Yun’s house at noon.

At noon, with her lunch box, Jiang Cheng went into the cafeteria and happened to make eye contact with Sister Kong.

Sister Kong hurriedly shifted her gaze, pretending as if nothing unseemly was happening.

Jiang Cheng continued to feign ignorance, knowing that a guilty conscience would eventually reveal itself, and got herself a dish and a bun as usual.

Back in the office, taking advantage of being alone, Jiang Cheng unabashedly added to her meal.

Beef!

Lemon boneless chicken feet!

And a bottle of cold cola!

Refreshing!

After satisfying her hunger, Jiang Cheng chewed gum, rinsed her mouth with plain water, then used a paper fan to clear the air and continued working.

A little after three in the afternoon, Jiang Cheng got up to use the bathroom.

The restroom of the junkyard is on the east side of the backyard, a pit toilet divided into male and female sections.

Fortunately, it’s kept clean, so it’s tolerable for Jiang Cheng.

When Jiang Cheng finished using the toilet and was heading back, she suddenly heard talking coming from outside the wall as she walked close to it.

"The thief in the temple... Ali Gado..."

R language?

Jiang Cheng understood R language.

She quickly crouched down, surveyed her surroundings without making any sound, and took out her notebook from her space.

Gently, she wrote down the words she heard, including tone, voice, and marked the time and place, adding her current thoughts.

The two outside spoke quickly and were about to part.

Jiang Cheng retreated to the pit toilet and continued to squat.

A dozen minutes later, Jiang Cheng returned to the office and wrote the recorded content on letter paper again.

She converted the R language into Chinese characters, pretending she didn’t understand but remembered the pronunciation.
