“And her adopted family,” Mom rasped, her voice trembling with a newfound venom. “I heard they’re rising again, and I don’t like it one bit!”

“Forget the family and the Nightfang pack for now,” my father, Waylon, said, his voice thick with emotion. “I just want to see my daughter. My poor child…”

Mom’s breath hitched again, a sob breaking through her anger.

She didn’t want to let us in but after seeing the urgency in our tones, she finally accepted and directed us to the private suite behind the pack house.

“Dad, do you think someone with Baron’s status could really be sincere with my sister? Or is she just his new “True Keeper‘?”

We pulled up to the gates and strode toward the entrance.
