Chapter 143 Don’t You Dare Touch Natalie
Sharon’s POV
The glow of the tablet screen was blinding, taunting me.

I stared at the video – the fluid lines of the transcription, the undeniable elegance of the work, and the name that felt like a curse: The Keeper’s Scribe Studio.
The world seemed to tilt on its axis.
My heart hammered against my ribs.
“Natalie is still alive?” I breathed, the words tasting like ash. “How is that possible? In a fire that big… she was locked in! She was wolfless! She couldn’t have escaped alone!”
The memory of the Pavilion fire flashed behind my eyes; the roar of the flames, the smell of burning wood, and the satisfying click of the lock as I trapped my supposed sister inside.
She was supposed to be a handful of charred bones by now.
She was supposed to be a ghost I could blame for all my misfortunes.
“Who? Who saved her?”
Before staging Natalie’s death in that fire, she had overheard the one thing that could destroy me: she knew I was faking my moon sickness.
She knew the terminal diagnosis was nothing more than a carefully crafted lie to pull Jensen back into my bed.
If Natalie had survived, and Jensen found out… what then? He wouldn’t just reject me; he would erase me from the face of the Earth.
I swept everything off my table with a violent crash.
I let out a sharp, piercing scream that tore through the quiet of my parent’s pack.
I couldn’t stay here.
I couldn’t just wait for the fall.
I bolted from the room, my heels clicking against the hardwood as I scrambled into my car.
My hands were shaking so hard I could barely grip the steering wheel.
I dialed Johnson, the man who had helped facilitate the medical reports.
“Natalie is alive!” I shrieked the moment he picked up. “The fake moon sickness scheme we pulled…everything… orice it’s exposed, we’re finished! Do you hear me? Have your people get rid of her!”
I heard a heavy thud on the other end, as if Johnson had dropped his phone.
“Didn’t you say she burned to death in that fire?” Johnson’s voice was a panicked, high–pitched hiss. “How is she still alive? Are you

sure? Maybe it’s a deepfake!”

“I am absolutely sure! Her style is unmistakable!” I was nearly hyperventilating. “Which is why you have to make sure that man finds her and kills her before she makes it back to the pack! If she crosses the border, if she speaks to Jensen, otherwise, you and I are both doomed!”
“You make it sound so easy!” Johnson was nearly shouting himself, his voice cracking with terror. “Do you think the person behind me is that simple to reach? We’ve already failed once to keep her quiet, and now it looks like she has backing! Big backing!”
I didn’t care about his excuses.
I only cared about survival.
“I don’t care!” I screamed into the phone, my face contorted in the rearview mirror. “It was your people’s idea for me to fake the sickness to fool Jensen in the first place! You wanted the pack’s influence! If I go down, none of you will have it easy. I’ll give the council every name!”
Thung up the phone, my breath hitching in the silence of the car.
Why was Natalie still alive?
If she survived, then whose bones had shown up in the fire debris?
The medical examiner had confirmed a body.
And more importantly, who had stolen those bones from the morgue afterward?
Was there something I didn’t know?
My mind raced, connecting dots that refused to form a clear picture.
I absolutely could not let Jensen find out the truth.
If he finds out then everything would be over.
I would be back in the gutter in an instant.
And then there was my family’s pack.
I couldn’t help but think of them now with a mix of resentment and desperation.
With the Nightfang’s pack support over the last few months, the family had already begun to rise back up from the rogues.
My father, Jordan, had even begun discussing high–level partnerships with other packs.
If Jensen really turned on me, I needed a backup.
I was still, at the very least, the family’s daughter.
I need to hold on to my position as the true heir!
I drove back to the pack, my resolve hardening.
“Someone, come here!” I barked the moment I stepped into the foyer.

The butler came rushing over, his head bowed. “Miss, what do you need?”

I glanced around, making sure no servants were lurking in the shadows, before asking in a low, conspiratorial voice, “How much of that medicine you’ve been giving my mother is left?”
At the mention of the medicine, the butler flinched.
“I didn’t dare make too much, Miss; just a little at a time, as you ordered. Right now the poison is only accumulating in her system, so it shouldn’t show any obvious effects yet. It just looks like a lingering fatigue,”
I let out a slow, shaky breath of relief.
If Natalie was coming back, the weak daughter act wouldn’t be enough.
I needed my mother alive and healthy enough to stand as my shield.
“Stop giving it to her for now,” I commanded. “Make sure her diet and everything else look perfectly normal. My mother can’t have any accidents right now.”
The butler frowned in confusion, his eyes darting to the broken glass in the hallway. “Miss, did something happen? Why the sudden change?”
“You ask what you should, and keep quiet about what you shouldn’t!” I shot him a sharp glare.
The man didn’t dare press me further.
He quickly nodded and hurried toward the kitchen to have the tainted dishes thrown out and ordered fresh, clean meals to be prepared for the mistress of the house.
Even with all these precautions, I still felt unsettled.
Jensen wasn’t the only one I had deceived.
My contact expected results… they wanted Natalie gone.
What should I do?
The thought of Jensen stirred a complicated feeling in my head.
I knew his heart was still full of Natalie; even when he thought she was dead, he spent his nights staring at her old transcriptions.
Now that she was about to return, her name appearing on every talk in the pack, I needed to find a way to make Jensen feel a crushing, overwhelming guilt toward me.
I needed to be the victim again.
With that thought in mind, I left the pack and drove straight to the Nightfang’s pack office.
As soon as I had arrived, Hansel came down immediately.
He didn’t invite me up; he stood in the middle of the lobby, blocking my path like a stone wall.
“Ms. Sharon,” he said, his voice as cold as winter. “Alpha Jensen specifically said you shouldn’t come to the company unless it’s an absolute emergency. He is in a very… delicate mood today.”

“I need to see Jensen,” I said, my voice dropping.
My usual arrogance had dulled considerably.
I couldn’t afford to play the high–and–mighty Luna right now.
I needed to be the mate who was worried about her health.
Hansel had no idea what scheme I was plotting this time, but he didn’t treat me with the respect I deserved.
He simply stared at me for a long beat before telling me to wait while he went inside to report.
Seeing Hansel’s cold indifference, my hands curled so tightly together that my nails nearly drew blood from my palms.

*Damn Hansel!* I thought, my jaw aching from the tension. *He’s just a glorified assistant, a servant, and he dares to stop me? I’m the Luna, one day, when I have fully secured Jensen, I’ll make sure Hansel pays for every single humiliation he’s ever dealt me.”
I stood in the lobby, the eyes of the guards on me, and prayed that Johnson’s man was faster than Natalie’s return.
