Chapter 170 Nice Try With The Powder
Chapter 170 Nice Try With The Powder
Natalie’s POV
Within minutes, the sound of heavy boots echoed against the marble.
It was the Nightfang Pack Enforcement Division, the iron hand of Jensen’s law.

They moved with a predatory speed, their eyes flashing with a communal gold as they assessed the threat.
“Who called this in?” the lead Enforcer barked, his gaze sweeping over the boutique.
The guards glanced over the scene, their brows knitting tightly as they saw Quincy Summers – the Luna of a prominent Pack lying in a pool of her own blackened blood.
One of them knelt by her side, his nostrils flaring. “What happened to the woman on the ground? The air reeks of synthesized nightshade.”
“Enforcer, this lady suddenly coughed up blood and collapsed,” I said, stepping forward before Lucy could open her mouth.
My voice was cool, cutting through the chaos.
“The woman beside her is her servant, yet instead of calling for a Pack Healer right away, she tried to frame me, claiming I poisoned her. That’s why I called the Enforcement Division… and an ambulance. I imagine the medical team should be here any minute.”
I spoke clearly and logically, beating Lucy to the punch.
At that moment, the medical transport pulled up with a wail of sirens.
Following protocol, the Healers prioritized saving lives; Quincy was lifted onto a stretcher, her face a ghastly shade of violet, and rushed away toward the Nightfang Pack Hospital.
Chris hurried over to my side, his eyes scanning me for injuries, his hand resting near the concealed blade at his hip. “Miss, what happened? Did they touch you?”
“Nothing.” I said, my tone light and dismissive.
I didn’t want him to escalate… not yet.
Some Enforcers followed the ambulance to the hospital to secure the victim, while Lucy and I were kept behind.

The lead Nightfang Enforcer turned to the shop manager, his voice a low growl. “Pull the footage. Now.”
The boutique’s surveillance was state–of–the–art.
The angle was perfect… I had entered facing the lens directly, every movement captured with absolute clarity, down to the smallest detail of my expression.
We watched the screen.
From the moment I stepped inside to the moment Quincy spoke to me, there had always been a person’s distance between us.
I watched myself on the screen.
Even when Quincy had stepped closer, her eyes wild with a desperate longing, I had instinctively shifted back, maintaining a safe space.
With that distance, neither I nor Quincy could have done anything discreet; every gesture would have been visible to the high–definition lens.
The footage showed plainly that there had been no physical contact between us whatsoever.
When Lucy saw the video, her face drained of color.
She looked like she had seen a ghost.
She had never considered the possibility of such a sharp camera angle.
Her mind was stuck in the old world, where a servant’s word could ruin the wolfless girl.
“Who are you?” Her voice trembled, her eyes darting between me and the enforcers standing at my back.
I let out a cold laugh, a sound that Nyx echoed with a mocking snarl in my mind. “You’re not qualified to know.”
Chris stepped forward, his voice edged with a lethal intent that made her shiver. “Who gave you the courage to frame our Luna? Do you have a death wish, or are you just incompetent?”
Lucy’s legs nearly buckled.
She looked at Chris’s Stone family crest and then back at me. “Luna? Whose… whose Luna are you?”

I didn’t even spare her a glance this time.
I turned instead to the Nightfang guards.

“Officer, I walked in here to buy clothes for my children and was slandered in front of a dozen witnesses. I demand a reasonable explanation from this woman… My time is valuable, and my reputation is not something a servant can play with.”
“No… I didn’t slander you! It has to be you!” Lucy blurted frantically, her desperation reaching a fever pitch.
“Officer, I suspect she’s carrying poison powder on her! Look at her! She’s cold, she’s calculating!”
She was reaching now, her hand diving into the pocket where I knew she kept the remnants of her crime.
Lucy’s eyes suddenly darted to my sleeve.
Her face lit up with triumphant excitement.
“Officer, look! Look at her sleeve!” she screamed, pointing a shaking finger at my charcoal- grey silk cuff. “That’s it! That’s definitely the poison powder! She must have rubbed it on Madam when I wasn’t looking!”
She thought she had found irrefutable proof.
“Fool.”
I sneered, not even bothering to argue.
Nyx was laughing now, a surprising sound. ‘She really is that stupid, Natalie.
Nyx must be really amused to be laughing this hard about the whole issue.
The Enforcers exchanged glances.
They could smell the panic on Lucy, and they could smell the chemical trace on her fingers.
With a silent signal, one of them stepped forward toward Lucy.
He seized her by the armis, pinning her against a display rack.
“What are you doing? You’ve got the wrong person! It’s on her sleeve! Look at the powder!” Lucy froze, stunned, her voice cracking into a shriek.
