Chapter 225 Phones Don’t Save You
Natalie’s POV
In the world of shifters, Scribes were more than just designers or historians; we were the observers of the truth.
We saw the patterns others missed.
And the pattern currently unfolding in the Nightfang pack was a bloody line that led directly to a single source.
“Luna, do you suspect Sharon is behind this?” Chris’s voice was low, his wolf’s aura vibrating against my back.

He had frozen for a fraction of a second when I gave the order, likely weighing Baron’s command to keep me safe against my own authority.
“Whether it’s her or not, we’ll find out when we see her,” I replied, my voice devoid of warmth.
Seeing the cold resolve in my eyes, Chris didn’t argue.
He signaled the Stone pack sentinels. And in silence, we entered the hospital.
The Hospital Director, a doctor named Dr. Andrew rushed out the moment the Stone pack’s arrival was signaled at the front desk.
He was a high–ranking Beta who understood the weight of bloodlines.
In the past, when I was Jensen’s shadow, Dr. Andrew had always treated me with a distinct respect because he knew the power possessed.
He knew that a single report from a Scribe could elevate or ruin a medical facility’s reputation with the High Accord.
He looked at me now, his eyes widening as he took in my charcoal/suit.
I wasn’t the girl who came for minor check–ups then.
Chris stepped in front of him before he could utter a formal greeting.
“Natalie is here to settle a personal matter. Rest assured, no other patients will be affected by this investigation. Just ensure your staff does not interfere… that is all we ask.”
Dr. Andrew looked at Chris, then at the row of Stone warriors, and finally at me.
He immediately nodded and retreated, waving his staff back into their stations. “The floor is yours. Ms. Stone”
I didn’t waste time with a thank you.
With Chris and the others at my back, I located the VIP wing
I knew Sharon’s ward was at the end of the hall.
“Clear the floor,” I commanded.
I had no such fears.

swiftly
Within minutes, the other households were swiftly and safely moved to the executive floor above.
The hallway became eerily silent.
Nurses standing near the central station immediately lowered their heads as I passed.
No one dared speak.
Chris leaned slightly closer as we approached the end of the corridor.
“Her guards were dismissed an hour ago by Loretta’s personal order,” he murmured quietly.
A cold smile touched my lips.
“Such a beautiful coincidence, don’t you think?”
My wolf stirred beneath my skin.
Nyx was hunting.
Every instinct inside me screamed that my children were in danger.
Sean.
Susie.
Their little faces flashed through my mind so vividly that rage nearly blackened my vision.
I reached the door of the ward and didn’t knock.
I strode in.
The door flew open, and I walked in.
This was the first time Sharon had truly faced me since my rebirth from the flames of that warehouse.
“What are you doing here?” she hissed, her voice cracking.
I didn’t answer.
I caught the venom in her gaze and the way her hand crept toward the bedside table.
I raised a single hand, and Chris immediately shut the heavy door from the inside and turned the lock with a definitive thud
The sound made Sharon’s blood run cold.
The victim mask began to slip, revealing the terrified rat beneath.
I watched the exact moment Sharon realized something was wrong.
Her eyes flickered toward the windows first.

Calritating distance.
Escape.
Then toward the emergency call button beside the bed.
Then toward Chris.
And finally back to me.
I saw it happen in real time.
The confidence drained from her face.
