Chapter 342 The Analytical Sanctuary

Jensen’s POV

The armor-plated transport swerved violently onto the lower coastal highway bypass, the force of the turn throwing my body against the cold steel wall of the cabin.

The run-flat tires continued pounding against the concretexoad, creating a vibration that travelled through the entire chassis.

“Check the tracking lay lines again!” I shouted, my voice cracking as t slammed my palms against the front cabin partition.

The movement sent another sharp wave of pain through my throat where Baron’s hand had nearly crushed the life out of me, but ignored it.

Pain didn’t matter anymore.

Nothing mattered except getting out of this territory before that man reached us again.

“Why aren’t the secondary scramblers dropping our signature?”

The mercenary driver didn’t answer immediately, and that silence made my stomach tighten.

The transport continued cutting through the thick fog, the navigation screens flickering with warning symbols instead of directions.

The system that had guided us through every route we planned was now useless, the once reliable tracking network completely corrupted.

“The Blackridge vanguard is overriding the regional grid!” the driver finally yelled back, his hands gripping the steering controls sc tightly his knuckles had turned white. “The data cells just dropped a permanent foreclosure token on our transport registry. Our commercial navigation lines are dead. We’re running blind!”

My chest tightened.

Running blind.

That was never part of the plan.

For a while, we had studied Baron Blackridge. We studied his, moves, his public image, his politicat influence, and the way he controlled his territory.

We saw a man who preferred contracts over visience, someone who hid behind corporate structures and legal agreements instead of showing his true power.

We thought exile had weakened him.

We thought years away had turned him into someone manageable.

We thought we could use a simple strategy, take away his financial control, force his hand, and walk away with everything we

needed.

But we had made the mistake of judging restraint as weakness.

Baron wasn’t harmless.

He was a weapon that had spent years locked away,

And we were the idiots who opened the door.

I pushed myself away from the wall, forcing my body to move despite the pain spreading through my ribs.

My hands shook as I crawled toward the small observation window connecting my cabin to the secondary transport travelli beside us.

The glass was dark and reinforced, but I could still make out the outline of the other vehicle.

Natalie was inside.

A cold wave travelled through me.

Because suddenly, I understood something I should have understood from the beginning.

We weren’t carrying a prisoner.

We were carrying the reason Baron Blackridge would destroy everything between us and him.

I saw her in that warehouse.

I saw the way her eyes changed when the silver restraints started failing.

And we had placed that awakened power inside a moving cage with nowhere else to go.

Natalie’s POV

The inside of the transport was completely dark, the only light coming from the occasional red flashes of the warning systems outside the reinforced walls.

I sat quietly in the reinforced chair, my remaining wrist still locked beneath the heavy silver cuff.

Every few seconds, whenever the vehicle hit an uneven part of the road, the suppression filaments inside the metal activated.

A sharp wave of energy rushed through my skin, burning against my core channels and attempting to force Nyx back into silence

It was painful.

For five winters, Jensen had known me as the woman who stayed behind closed doors, who smiled politely and never revealed t thoughts running through her mind.

They saw patience and assumed weakness.

But they forgot something important.

I was a Scribe of the Frost lineage.

My mind had survived things my body never should have.

And no amount of silver could take that away.

The golden presence of my wolf moved through mycore channels, pressing calmly against the suppression holding her back. understood what I understood.

We didn’t need to break the cage immediately.

We needed to understand it.

Every movement of the transport gave me something new.

The speed.

The direction.

The vibration beneath the floor.

The pressure changes through the ventilation system.

The industrial valley was gone. The heavy smell of smoke and chemicals had faded, replaced by damp coastal air and the sharp scent of salt.

We were moving toward the lower port routes.

Port Blackwood.

A place where people disappeared when they had nowhere else to run.

A place where Jensen believed he could hide.

The thought almost made me smile.

Because Jensen still didn’t understand the difference between escaping and delaying the inevitable.

Every decision left a trail.

Every movement created a pattern.

And patterns were what I was best at finding.

I closed my eyes and focused on the sound of the engine beneath me.

The vehicle was struggling.

The filtration systems were overloaded from the acid release.

The transport couldn’t maintain this pace forever.

They needed a stop.

A transfer.

A new location.

Which meant they were running out of options.

My thoughts moved away from the transport and back toward home.

Sean.

Susie.

My children.

The image of them settled over my mind like a protective shield. I could imagine Sean trying to act older than he was, standin with that stubborn expression he inherited from Baron, pretending he wasn’t worried.

I could imagine Susie asking when I would come back.

They were safe.

That was enough.

Baron had built the estate to survive war.

Flynn would protect the perimeter.
