Baron’s POV

The iron gates of Port Blackwood didn’t stand a chance under the impact of the truck.

They twisted, folded, and collapsed completely as the force of our entry tore through the barrier, sending broken pieces of scattering across the wet concrete of the harbor.

The storm was raging around us, the coastal rain beating violently against the windshield as the truck pushed deeper into t staging yard.

My attention was locked on the only thing that mattered.

The ship.

Two hundred meters ahead, the dark shape of the the ship was already leaving the dock.

The massive passenger liner moved through the black water, its engines creating a white trail of foam behind it as it pulled a from the harbor.

They were trying to run.

“Baron!”

Flynn’s voice cut through the noise of the engine.

He was positioned near the open passenger door, his rifle already aimed toward the upper structures of the harbor.

“The perimeter is filled with unaligned signatures. The syndicates are setting up defense points along the seawall.”

I didn’t take my foot off the accelerator.

“They can bring every weapon they have,” I replied, my voice calm despite the storm around us. “It won’t change the outcome

Because the only thing keeping me from tearing through everything in my path was the fact that Natalie was still somewhere ins that ship.

The bond between us remained silent.

A painful, empty silence.

The suppression systems around the vessel were blocking her frequency completely, leaving nothing but a hollow space where he presence should have been.

It felt wrong.

Like someone had ripped a piece of me away and buried it somewhere I couldn’t reach.

But panic was useless.

Natalie wasn’t helpless.

She was my mate.

And if she was trapped inside that ship, then everyone who had touched her had already signed their own death sentence.

A sudden burst of gunfire cut through the rain.

The bullets slammed into the front of the truck, cracking against the metal..

Flynn reacted instantly.

His rifle fired.

The sound echoed through the harbor, and seconds later, the sniper position above the docks exploded.

The entire structure collapsed, taking the hidden guard with it.

“High ground cleared,” Flynn said as he reloaded.

I barely acknowledged him.

My eyes stayed on the ship.

“They’re increasing speed,” he warned.

“They know I’m coming.”

The words left my mouth quietly.

Because they did.
