Chapter 358 Level B5
Natalie’s POV
Without wasting another second, I gripped the grease–slick cable beside the lift shaft and stepped into open air.
The descent lasted little more than a breath.

Wind rushed past my face before my boots struck the flooded engineering deck with a heavy splash that sent icy water surging to my thighs.
The impact barely registered.
My attention had already locked onto the only life that mattered.
Six meters.
Southeast corridor.
Holding Cell Eleven.
Iran.
The current fought to drag my legs sideways, but Nyx answered with effortless strength.
Every step carved through the flood instead of yielding to it.
Behind me, another thunderous groan shook the vessel.
Steel screamed.
A shower of rust and seawater rained from the ceiling.
The Leviathan had begun eating itself alive.
I rounded the final corner.
Beth’s cell came into view.
The water inside had risen above her waist.
Heavy chains anchored her to the reinforced wall, forcing her to lean backward just to keep her face above the surface.
Every wave thrown against the hull slammed into her body, stealing another inch of ground.
Her lips were blue.
Her breathing came in short, ragged gasps.
Blood trickled from reopened wounds across her wrists where the restraints had rubbed her skin raw.
Yet when our eyes met…

She smiled.
It wasn’t the smile of someone who expected rescue.
It was the smile of a mother who had chosen hope over despair.
“You came,” she whispered, her voice almost lost beneath the roar of rushing water.
“I said I would.”
The words were calm.
Another violent surge crashed into the cell, lifting the water to Beth’s shoulders before draining away again.
She shivered violently.
“They locked…” she struggled for breath. “…the hydraulic seal.”
“I know.”
“The manual controls are dead.”
“I know.”
“The bridge…”
“There is no bridge anymore.”
Confusion flickered across her exhausted face.
“The people giving orders stopped caring about this deck the moment they realized it would sink.”
I stepped closer to the reinforced door.
Unlike the cells above, this lock wasn’t controlled by a simple mechanical deadbolt.
Two hydraulic pistons held the steel slab in place.
Electronic magnetic pins reinforced the pressure seals from inside the frame.
Even submerged beneath freezing seawater, I could hear them humming.
I placed my palm against the door.
My fingers traced the edge of the hydraulic housing.
There.
One damaged junction.
The flooding had forced seawater into the pressure line.
Corrosion had already begun eating through the internal valve assembly.

The mechanism was still functioning.
Barely.
I smiled.
“So that’s where you’ve been hiding.”
Beth frowned.
“What?”
“The fracture.”
I curled my fingers around the exposed section of reinforced pipe.
Power flowed from my core into my arm until the submerged water around my wrist shimmered with thin sheets of ice.
Then…
I squeezed.
The reinforced pipe resisted for less than a second.
A sharp groan echoed through the hydraulic housing as the frozen metal compressed beneath my grip.
Hairline fractures raced along its surface, spreading faster than the eye could follow before disappearing beneath the rushing
water.
Then the entire conduit failed.
A deafening crack split through the engineering bay.
The heavy locking bars shot backward.
The door lurched.
Another wave slammed against the outside of the cell.
This time, nothing held it shut.
The reinforced slab burst outward with the force of hundreds of gallons of trapped seawater.
“Beth!”
The current threw her toward me before she could even react.
r
The chains around her ankles dragged behind her like anchors, twisting her body sideways as the flood swallowed her footing completely.
She disappeared beneath the surface.
I reached her before the current could.

My hand caught her forearm.

With my other arm, Hocked around her waist and hauled her upward just as another surge tried to drag both of us deeper into the flooded corridor.
Beth burst through the surface coughing violently.
Saltwater poured from her mouth as she struggled to breathe.
For several long seconds she could do nothing except cling to me with desperate strength, trembling from exhaustion and cold.
“I’ve got you.”
She shook uncontrollably.
“I’ve got you.”
Gradually her breathing steadied.
Her fingers tightened around my coat as though she were afraid letting go would send her back beneath the water.
“I… I thought…” she whispered between ragged breaths.
“I know.”
“I thought I wouldn’t see Donovan again.”
“You will.”
Her eyes searched mine.
There wasn’t hope inside them.
There was fear.
The kind only a mother carried.
“They’ll move him,” she whispered. “If they hear this ship has gone down… they’ll move him before anyone reaches the warehouse.”
“They won’t.”
“You don’t know James.”
“I don’t need to.”
“He sells children like livestock.”
“I know exactly what he is.”
Her breathing caught again.
“He doesn’t keep promises.”

do.”
The words settled between us with quiet certainty.
“I promised I’d get you out.”
“I did.”
“I promised we’d find your son.”
“We will.”
Another violent tremor rolled beneath our feet.
This one was stronger.
Much stronger.
The entire engineering deck lurched violently to port.
Loose equipment tore free from broken anchor bolts, crashing into the flooded corridor before disappearing beneath the churning
water.
A maintenance platform collapsed somewhere nearby with an explosion of twisted steel.
The ship groaned again.
Only this time…
It sounded like it was about to fully sink.
My eyes lifted instinctively toward the ceiling.
“We have to move,” I said.
Beth nodded immediately despite the exhaustion weighing on every movement.
“I can walk.”
I glanced downward.
The chains.
Heavy industrial restraints still circled both of her ankles, joined by a thick length of reinforced steel.
Every step forced her to drag nearly thirty kilograms of dead weight through waist–deep water.
Not happening.
I crouched beside her.
“Natalie…”
“Stay still.”

My fingers wrapped around the first shackle.
Cold spread from my palm into the reinforced metal.
The steel groaned… I doubt I can ever get used to this.
A single twist.
The cuff snapped apart like brittle glass.
The second restraint lasted even less time.
Its fractured halves disappeared beneath the flood.
Beth stared.
“…”
She looked from the broken chains to my face.
“I’ve never seen anyone break restraint steel.”
“I wasn’t supposed to.”
The corner of my mouth lifted slightly.
“They underestimated what happens when they stop suppressing a Frost.”
For the first time since I’d met her…
Beth laughed.
It was small.
Weak.
Hoarse from exhaustion.
But it was real.
Then it vanished as another explosion thundered somewhere beyond the hull.
Not inside.
Outside.
The entire ship shuddered.
Every light still clinging to life blinked once before dying completely.
A deep metallic boom rolled through the ocean itself.
My mate bond ignited.

Heat flooded my chest.
Baron.
He’s here.
The feeling hit me so powerfully that I stopped moving altogether.
He’d closed the distance.
The five hundred meters separating us from his fleet no longer existed.
They were alongside the Leviathan now.
Waiting for me.
I closed my eyes for the briefest moment.
The bond answered instantly.
‘Alive?‘
‘Yes.‘
‘Beth?‘ (1
‘Safe.‘
‘Ready?‘
‘Always.‘
Warmth surged through the connection before fading back into perfect silence.
He knew I’d finished what I came for.
Now…
It was his turn.
A distant siren wailed somewhere above us.
“They’re boarding!”
Someone screamed from the upper decks.
“They’re here!”
Gunfire erupted.
One shot.
Then three.

Then dozens.
The sound echoed through the steel corridors like rolling thunder.
Beth’s eyes widened.
“What was that?”
I looked upward.
A slow smile curved across my lips.
“The execution line.”
My mate is here.
