Chapter 192: The Competition
Kyra POV
The morning after the strange message situation, the

estate still felt a little tense even though the adults were trying not to
I noticed it anyway because Amorah checked her phone more than usual and Conrad kept talking to security wolves between breakfast bites.
I decided not to ask questions because the adults always shared important things when they were ready. Besides, I had something much more exciting to think about when Lyra handed me a notice from the academy before we left for school. “Read the highlighted part, Lyra said as she passed it over. “I have a feeling you’re going to like this.”
My eyes moved down the page, and I nearly dropped it when I saw the announcement. The academy was hosting an inter- school wolf skills competition, and students from several territories would be participating.
“Oh, I’m doing this,” I said immediately. “I’m absolutely doing this.”
Zane barely looked up from his tablet. “Sounds like a lot of work.”
I narrowed my eyes because I knew that tone. Whenever Zane pretended not to care about something, it usually meant He cared more than anyone else.
“You want to do it too,” I said. “You’re just being weird about it.”
“No, I’m not,” he replied. “I just don’t need a competition to prove I’m good at things.”
By the time we arrived at the academy, half the school was already talking about the event. Students crowded around information boards while instructors answered questions about categories, training requirements, and eligibility rules. My friend Ava found me near the main building and immediately grabbed my arm. She looked more excited than I felt, which was saying something.
“Did you see it?” she asked. “Please tell me you’re entering.”
“Of course I am,” I replied. “Are you?”
She nodded quickly. “My parents already told me to sign up.”
The entire morning became one long conversation about the competition. Even during regular classes, students kept whispering about possible teams, rival schools, and who had the best chances of winning.
One thing I quickly learned was that school competitions came with a surprising amount of social drama. People who were perfectly nice yesterday suddenly became competitive once rankings and prizes were involved.
During lunch, Ava introduced me to a few more students from her social group. Most of them were friendly, but one girl spent the entire conversation asking questions about my family instead of talking about the competition.
“Is it true your stepfather is a Supreme Alpha?” she asked. “My cousin said your family is famous.”
I shifted uncomfortably in my seat. “I’d rather talk about the competition.”
Thankfully, Ava changed the subject before things became awkward. I appreciated that more than she probably realized. When classes ended, I discovered something that made me laugh. Zane was standing outside a training room holding registration papers he supposedly had no interest in submitting.
“What are those?” I asked.
He looked annoyed that I had caught him. “Nothing important.”
I reached for the papers, but he pulled them away. Unfortunately for him, I had already seen the competition logo printed across the top.
“You signed up,” I said.
“No.”
“You literally signed up.”
He sighed heavily. “Fine, but only because the training program instructor recommended it.”
The ride home felt different than it had a few weeks ago. Instead of talking about estate life, we spent most of the trip arguing about who would perform better in the
“You’re too competitive,” Zane said.

“You’re only saying that because you’re scared I’ll win,” I replied.
Chapter 192: The Competition
When we arrived home, the baby immediately became the center of attention again. He was lying in Arorah’s arms, loung perfectly innocent despite causing constant chaos lately.
“Watch this,” Amorah said.
Before she could explain, the baby suddenly turned his head toward the doorway. A few seconds later Conrad walked into the room carrying paperwork.
“He does that every time,” Amorah said.
Conrad shook his head. “He shouldn’t be able to recognize scents
rom that distance yet.”
The baby seemed very proud of himself. He immediately reached toward Conrad and started making happy/noises.
Later that evening, I found Amorah sitting in the nursery while the baby slept. She looked tired, but she also looked happy/ in a way that was difficult to describe.
“How was school?” she asked.
“Good,” I replied. “Busy.”
I told her about the competition, and she listened carefully while rocking the baby. When I finally finished talking, she smiled.
“You seem excited,” she said.
“I am.”
She nodded slowly. “Then you should do it.”
Conrad appeared a few minutes later, and the conversation shifted toward me and Zane getting older. The two of them kept exchanging looks that made me suspicious.
“What?” I asked.
“Nothing,” Conrad replied.
“That’s not true.”
Amorah laughed softly. “We’re just realizing how quickly things are changing.”
