Chapter 195 Things Worth Protecto
Chapter 195: Things Worth Protecting
Amorah POV
The morning after Conrad investigated the observation point, the estate felt strangely normal despite everything we had learned
Evidence suggested someone had been watching parts of the territory, but nobody had found signs of direct bostany That uncertainty frustrated many of the guards, but I refused to let it control our lives. We had spent too many years reacting to fear, and I was tired of giving it more space than it deserved.
Conrad joined me in the kitchen while I prepared a bottle for the baby. His eyes looked tired from the previous night’s investigation, but he still reached for me before reaching for coffee
“You’re thinking about the observation point,” I said. “I can see it on your face.”
He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. “I’m thinking about it, but I’m also thinking about today’s acaderny event
I smiled slightly and handed him his mug. “Good, because we’re going.”
“We were always going,” he replied. “I know better than to argue with you now.”
The baby made a happy noise from the carrier beside us and kicked both feet. Conrad immediately leaned down to check on him as if the sound might indicate some kind of emergency.
1 laughed before I could stop myself. “He’s fine.”
“I know he’s fine,” Conrad said. “I’m just checking.”
A few minutes later, Kyra and Zane arrived downstairs already dressed for the academy event. They both tried to appear calm, but excitement rolled off them through their scents.
“You two have been awake for hours,” I said. “Don’t even try denying it.”
Kyra grinned without shame and dropped into a chair. Zane rolled his eyes and pretended to be offended by the accusation.
“I woke up early because I wanted breakfast,” he said. “That’s completely normal.”
“Sure,” Kyra replied. “And I suppose you practiced your competition routine before sunrise for breakfast too.”
Zane pointed at her immediately. “You’re one to talk.”
Their argument continued through most of the meal, and I enjoyed every second of it. A year ago, neither of them had been worrying about school events or friendly competitions.
After breakfast, Lyra arrived carrying several bags and immediately began helping organize everything. She moved naturally through the house now without trying to force herself into conversations.
“Do you need anything else packed?” she asked. “I can grab it before we leave.”
I looked at the baby and then at her. “Actually, yes.”
Her surprise was obvious, though she tried hiding it. “What do
“An extra blanket from the nursery,” I said. “The blue one.”
you need?”
She nodded immediately and headed upstairs. I caught the brief look Conrad gave me but chose not to comment on it. The drive to the academy was louder than usual because everyone seemed to have something to discuss. Between competition schedules, school gossip, and baby updates, nobody stayed quiet for long.
When we arrived, the campus was crowded with students, parents, and instructors. The atmosphere felt energetic without becoming overwhelming.
Kyra immediately spotted several friends and waved enthusiastically. Zane pretended not to notice the group waiting for him near the training field.
“Nobody’s waiting for me,” he muttered. “They’re just standing there.”
Kyra laughed so hard she nearly tripped. Even Conrad struggled to keep a straight face.
The event officially began with demonstrations from different student groups. I watched proudly as both twins moved through the crowd with growing confidence.
They still looked like my children, but they were becoming their own nannla. That realization felt both wonderful and slightly painful.

During a break between activities, I found mysel stay pesive comu near the edge of the field. The baby slept peacefully against my chest while we watched the twins.

“They’ve changed so much,” I said quietly “Sometimes it feels like it happened overnight
Conrad slipped his hand into mine. “I know”
For a moment. neither of us spoke. We simply watched our children laughing with people their own age
“We’re building something good,” I finally said. “Not perfect, but good”
His grip lightened slightly around my hand. “I think so too”
Later that afternoon, one of the academy coordinators approached us with instructions for the next part of the event twins disappeared with their groups while families waited in designated areas.
The baby woke up shortly afterward and demanded attention immediately. Between feeding him and carrying him around barely had time to sit down.
That was when Lyra stepped closer. She looked at the baby and then at me.
“You haven’t stopped moving all day,” she said. “Let me help.”
I hesitated for only a moment. Then I carefully transferred the baby into her arms.
“Just for a little while,” I said. “I’ll be nearby.”
Lyra’s expression softened instantly. “Of course.”
Watching her hold him felt strange in ways I could not fully explain. A few months ago, i never would have considered trusting her with something so important.
Yet she handled him carefully and confidently. More importantly, she never treated my trust like a reward she had earned. The event continued through the afternoon with competitions, presentations, and student showcases. Every time I checked on the baby, Lyra was exactly where she said she would be.
When the final results were announced, both twins performed well enough to leave smiling. Neither won everything they entered, but both returned looking proud of themselves.
