290.Chapter 290
So why’s he still handing her the shares?
Leo is really losing it. Letting Nicole be chairwoman? No way they’re okay with that
She doesn’t know the first thing about running a company. Is she just gonna wreck the Hammond Group?
No one could’ve predicted it-Nicole somehow got proxy voting rights from other shareholders, catapulting herself to the top as the company’s biggest shareholder.
The room went dead quiet, everyone scrambling to figure out how to fight back.
Seeing everyone go quiet, Nicole fought to keep her excitement in check. “From this moment on, I’m taking over the Hammond Group.”
Mavis stood behind her, her eyes shining with excitement.
She never imagined her daughter would actually hold real power one day.
And as her mom, she’d finally get to enjoy the high life too.
‘Let’s see who in high society still dares to call us nobodies to our faces now,’ she thought.
Just as the two of them were buzzing with excitement, the conference room door suddenly swung open.
A few police officers walked in.
They walked right up to Mavis and Nicole, flashing their badges.
“Mavis, Nicole, you’re being charged with kidnapping, unlawful confinement, and illegally seizing someone else’s property,” one of the officers announced.
“Nicole, you’re also accused of drugging someone and trying to hurt them.
“Please come with us to help with the investigation.”
Mavis and Nicole’s faces twisted in shock and panic.
They both shot Leo a look, totally stunned and in disbelief.
Their eyes flashed with warning, like they were silently telling him, ‘You really want to go down this road? You sure you want to keep breathing?’
Leo looked at them and said, “So, how does it feel to fall from grace?
“I’d rather die than ever bow to your threats.”
Not being able to sleep was hell, but being controlled by Mavis, Nicole, and Julian pulling the strings was even worse-pure
torment.
He would never let the Hammond family fall apart on his watch.
So he’d already talked it over with Kevin and decided to call the cops.
He’d been deliberately dragging things out these past few days, all to buy time for gathering evidence.
And at the same time, he was exposing those shareholders in the company who had backed Julian. Today, he let Mavis and Nicole bask in their moment of triumph, letting them soar high for a while.
Only to bring them crashing down to rock bottom right after.
He changed the subject and said, “Oh, and I almost forgot to mention something.
“Before my late wife passed away, I promised her I’d sign an agreement, and I got it notarized ages ago.”
He spelled out the details. “So that transfer agreement I signed with you? It doesn’t count for anything. It’s not legally valid
“Everything you think you own? None of it’s actually yours. Legally, it’s all worthless.
“Everything you did? All for nothing. That’s what happens when you try to play dirty.”
Seeing Mavis and Nicole’s faces twist in shock, Leo finally felt vindicated-like he’d finally gotten his payback.
