He seemed to have been living under the protection of his family for his entire life.

Ruth rolled her eyes and asked bluntly, “How did you protect yourself when you’re alone? Does your family members always protect you wherever you go?”

“Of course not!” Jonas Nolan retorted immediately.

How could his family member be so idle that they could follow him everywhere?

“But your awareness is really low,” Ruth said with a frown. Among the returnees whom she had met so far, Jonas Nolan was definitely the one with the worst battle awareness. Even when there were people around him, he didn’t put up his guard and seemed to be defenseless.

Back in City J Base, Dina has always been on guard against other people. She might look relaxed, but the subtle movements and body language conveyed that she was actually on high alert.

If there were anyone who made unnecessary move, Dina would attack without hesitation.

But Jonas Nolan was the opposite of what the people whom Ruth had met before. Even Samuel and Riya were still on guard. Samuel was obvious because of his position while Riya was a rune master who usually didn’t fight much on the frontline.

Yet, the two of them were obviously battle hardened.

“I’m not letting down my guard completely in front of strangers,” Jonas Nolan explained with a frown. “It’s only because I trust you that I’m more relaxed, Sister Ruth.”
