Chapter 113 Apologize to Her
His distrust of her had taken root deep inside him, unshakable for years.
Jasper shook his head slowly. “We’ve misunderstood her over and over. We had no right to do that.”
Stella stood nearby, burning with quiet fury as she listened to their soft, regretful words.
They only care about feeling guilty now?
Do they forget I’m the one who’s lost everything here?

Everything that should have been hers had been stolen away by Margaret, yet these two men wallowed in remorse for that girl instead.
I will never stand for it.
I will not let their view of Margaret shift, not for a single moment.
Stella hung her head and let quiet sobs escape her throat. “This is all my fault. I’m the reason Margaret was wrongfully blamed. I knew my own healing skills were limited, yet I joined you in judging her without a second thought. It was selfish and unfair of me.”
She wiped fresh tears from her cheeks as she spoke. “I should’ve stood by Margaret no matter what happened. Even if she dislikes me, I never should’ve spoken against her. She only wanted to win your heart, Crown Prince Christopher. She never truly harmed anyone. I’m the one who stole your affection from her, and I took credit for saving your life. I’m the one who’s truly cruel and in the wrong.”
Christopher snapped out of his gloomy thoughts at the sound of her crying. “Stella, we’ve told you time and again—this is not your burden to bear. You have nothing to blame yourself for.”
Stella kept her expression fragile and tearful. “No, it is my fault. I clung to my love for you and pushed you and Margaret apart. You would never have grown to hate her if not for me. If I’d never come between you two, you and Margaret might’ve been happy together.”
“My heart has always belonged only to you. Don’t say things like that anymore.” Christopher frowned sharply. “I chose to marry you. She’s always been consumed by jealousy, fighting to tear us apart at every turn. She may have saved my life this once, but one kind act cannot erase every cruel thing she’s done before.”
A subtle, satisfied smile tugged at Stella’s lips, hidden behind her tear–streaked face as she sobbed even more pitifully.
Jasper could not bear to watch her grieve any longer. “Don’t torture yourself like this, Stella. We’re the ones who owe Margaret an apology, not you. I misread Mr. Kingston’s meaning, and I wrongly believed your potion cured the poison in his arm. You never lied or stole credit on purpose. You’re innocent in all of this, so stop carrying unnecessary guilt.”
Stella’s mood settled at last with their double comfort.
That’s how it should be.

Chapter 113 Apologize to Her
So what if Margaret saved his life?
I will never let him change how he sees her.

A guard stepped forward suddenly. “Mr. Jasper Campbell, Mr. Timothy Campbell has returned to the estate.”
Jasper pulled himself back to the present at once. “Stella, dry your tears. It’s time for us to head home.”
Stella nodded with a wounded, helpless look, then turned to Christopher. “Crown Prince Christopher, I…”
“Head back to the estate together.” Christopher’s tone turned calm and neutral. “Mr. Kingston can treat my lingering poison, so I’ll stay here tonight. Keep news of my injury and this poison quiet. Tell every servant in the estate not to spread word to outsiders.”
Jasper nodded firmly. “You have my word. We understand what must stay private.”
Stella asked softly, “Won’t you come back with us?”
A faint look of discomfort crossed Christopher’s face.
Stella added in a meaningful tone, “Perhaps we should all return and apologize to Margaret for what we’ve done.”
“I am the Crown Prince.” Christopher’s reply came sharp and immediate. “I have no reason to bow down and apologize to her.”
Stella had expected that exact answer.
He had been raised with endless praise and favor his whole life. After earning his title as Crown Prince, countless nobles and commoners alike scrambled to win his approval. His pride was unshakable. He only ever bowed to King Spencer and Queen Norma, and only a few high lords and his uncle Theodore earned his genuine respect.
