Chapter 125 I’m Truly Touched

“Foolish beyond words.” Theodore tightened his fists without notice.

Sensing the quiet rage rolling off him, Cyan spoke quickly. “The assassins who’ve targeted you these past months all hail from the underground criminal circles. I cannot help but suspect they work alongside the men who ambushed Crown Prince Christopher.”

“Keep searching until you find answers.” Theodore’s tone stayed calm on the surface, yet sharp anger lingered beneath every word.

He rose to his feet and headed for the door right after speaking.

Cyan froze for a second, then hurried after him. “Prince Theodore, where are you going?”

Theodore shot him a sharp glare over his shoulder. Cyan stopped in his tracks at once, standing rooted to the spot.

It was clear to see–Theodore was furious.

Back at the Prime Minister’s Estate, after leaving Bloomveil Court, Jasper carried the second bowl of chicken soup and walked slowly toward Rosethorne Court.

His expression stayed dark and heavy the entire way.

His attendant murmured quietly at his side, “You’ve always been far too soft on Ms. Campbell. She grows more unruly with every kindness you show her. She clung to you far more readily back when you treated her coldly, yet now she grows arrogant and ungrateful.”

Jasper stayed silent. He trusted Stella wholeheartedly, and he’d always doubted Margaret’s side of every

conflict.

Even so, as he neared Stella’s courtyard, Margaret’s words echoed in his mind unbidden,

Tell Stella this soup was made by Margaret.

He could not stop wondering why she would say such a strange thing.

“Mr. Jasper Campbell, what troubles you?” the attendant asked, mustering up his courage.

Jasper frowned. “Why would Margaret insist I tell Stella she made this soup?”

“From where I stand, there is only one clear reason,” the attendant replied. “She hopes to soften Ms. Stella Campbell’s heart toward her. Ms. Stella Campbell is gentle and kind. If she learns Ms. Campbell cooked for her with her own hands, she will surely feel grateful. She might even return the favor with a gift, and the two could mend their broken bond.”

Jasper’s eyes widened in sudden understanding. “You’re right. This could bridge the rift between them.”

Doubt still lingered in the back of his mind. Margaret hated them all now, and she seemed far too bitter to

He stepped into Rosethorne Court, and the first words he spoke to Stella were, “Stella, I’ve come to see you. Margaret specially made you a bowl of chicken soup. Taste it and see how you like it.”

Shock flashed across Stella’s face. She stepped slowly out of her room, dazed and confused. She forced a stiff, uneasy smile at the sight of Jasper’s cheerful expression.

“Jasper… what did you just say?” she asked.

Jasper carried the soup inside and set the bowl down on the table.

“Margaret cooked this just for you,” he explained gently. “She remembers how fond you were of this soup as a child. It’s clear she’s put the past behind her and wants to make amends. She truly hopes to fix your relationship as sisters.”

Stella’s heart raced with unease. She could not believe what she was hearing.

Margaret would never reach out to reconcile–not after I plotted to kill her at the cliff, not after everything.

Our hatred runs far too deep for such small gestures to fix.

Her eyes locked on the bowl of soup, and suspicion twisted in her chest.

This could be poisoned.

She shot a subtle signal to Nadia. Nadia stepped forward at once and took the bowl. “Thank you for your kindness, Mr. Jasper Campbell, and thank Ms. Campbell,” Nadia said smoothly. “I will warm this soup for Ms. Stella Campbell at once.”

She carried the bowl away quietly.

Nadia pretended to heat the soup, but first she took a tiny sip in secret to check for poison. Once she confirmed it was safe, she warmed the soup and brought it back inside.

Jasper sat down at the table, his gaze earnest as he looked at Stella. “I’ve seen the tension between you and Margaret grow worse each day. You were always so forgiving and kind to her before, yet lately harsh words have passed between you both. Margaret no longer hides her frustration, I fear your sisterly bond will break entirely if this continues.”

He let out a weary sigh. “I know broken relationships cannot heal overnight. Still, Margaret’s choice to make you this soup proves she wants peace.”

Stella’s eyes darted in thought. The fact that the soup was brought back means there was nothing wrong

with it.

Even so, she could never bring herself to eat anything Margaret had made.

She could not refuse openly in front of Jasper, so she put on a bright, grateful smile. “I’m truly touched, Jasper. Margaret has never done something so thoughtful for me before. I will drink every drop of this soup. I’ll pick out a nice gift for her soon, too. No matter how she sees me, I will do everything I can to
