He could not bear the countless eyes fixed on him any longer, and finally left with a dark, sullen look.

Roy hurried after him. “Crown Prince Christopher, why has Princess Noelle kept speaking up for Ms. Campbell today?”

“Mind your own business,” Christopher said.

“Yes.”

Margaret had stepped out of the garderobe.

After putting on a sanitary napkin, she felt much more at ease.

She was glad that when she first researched how to use her storage space, she had stocked up enough sanitary pads to last her a lifetime. Living in ancient times without such modern conveniences would have been truly inconvenient otherwise.

Just as her thoughts wandered, a maid spoke beside her. “Ms. Campbell, Princess Noelle wishes to see you.”

Margaret blinked in surprise.

Princess Noelle wants to meet me–and even sent someone to wait for me right outside the garderobe door?

Typical of a spoiled girl.

“Where is she?” she asked.

The maid said, “She’ll be here shortly. Please wait here a moment.”

Margaret fell silent.

I’m standing right outside the garderobe. There’s no need to wait here.

As she stood there lost in thought, she noticed groups of palace maids hurrying past in the distance.

Snatches of their quiet chatter drifted over as they passed by.

“Hurry over to take a look–we’ll miss it if we’re late.”

“But there’s an assassin loose. Is it safe to go?”

“Everyone’s rushing to watch. There are plenty of guards already there. Even if the assassin is still around, he must have fled by now.”

“True. Mr. Joseph is unbelievably handsome. You know how striking he is.”

“I’ve never seen such a gorgeous man. Just one glance is enough to lift one’s spirits. I wonder if he was hurt.”

The maids‘ voices faded as they walked further away, all of them looking flustered and hurried.

“Go summon Patrick at once. Crown Prince Christopher’s condition is urgent.”

The young maid said, “Today is Queen Norma’s birthday banquet, but an assassin took advantage of the chaos to attempt to murder Mr. Joseph. Fortunately, he escaped with his life. Still, with an assassin loose in the palace, the banquet can no longer continue. That’s why everyone is leaving.”

“What about Crown Prince Christopher?” the maid asked again.

The young maid trembled slightly. “As everyone was dispersing, Crown Prince Christopher suddenly fell for no reason. They say he fell quite badly, his legs nearly giving out entirely. It took great effort for him to stand again…”

“Such a grown man, yet so careless walking. How unreliable.” Noelle’s voice suddenly rang out.

“You dare refuse my summons? How bold of you.” Noelle held her head high with a haughty air. “Margaret, why would you turn me down?”

Margaret said, “You know the answer yourself, Princess Noelle. I’m Prince Theodore’s personal physician. I must abide by his arrangements every day.”

“Don’t hide behind Uncle Theodore. I know you’re perfectly free. Otherwise, how were you able to stay at that inn before?” Noelle folded her arms, clearly displeased.
