Rejected by the Crown Prince? 1 Married His Uncle
Chapter 252 A Thread of Life

Theodore snatched Christopher’s robes in one fist and hauled the crown prince’s entire frame off the ground.
Unbridled wrath clouded his judgment, leaving him blind to his own lingering wounds.
A sudden, sharp blow landed hard against Theodore’s abdomen. Christopher had mustered all his remaining strength to kick his captor away.
Already weakened by prior injuries, Theodore collapsed heavily onto the floor. Christopher sank to one knee beside him, faint shock flickering across his bruised face
He said, “I’d assumed I stood no chance against you. Turns out the legendary war lord can be felled with a single kick. Uncle Theodore, what is the point of all this? I knew you’d taken Margaret away–did you see me give chase? I never sought to steal her back. I only wished to force her to acknowledge her own true feelings. Is that such an unforgivable offense?”
“You slipped a drug into her drink and left her teetering on the brink of death. You call that helping her see her heart?” Theodore roared, fighting through his own stabbing pains to rise.
Christopher froze for a split second before a derisive laugh bubbled out of him. “It was nothing more than a mild aphrodisiac incense. It could never claim a life. If you crave vengeance on my behalf of her, you need not fabricate such extreme lies.”
Theodore’s voice shook with unmitigated fury. “You think this is a fabrication?
“She coughed up blood nonstop from last night until dawn, hovering inches from death within my ducal manor. And you dismiss this as an empty excuse!”
Long strides carried Theodore forward, and he planted the full weight of his boot firmly atop Christopher’s thigh.
His agonized screams echoed through the empty hall as Theodore spoke each word slowly and deliberately, “If she survives this poison, you will never cross paths with her again. Should you dare to harass her a second time, I will take your life without hesitation. If she draws her final breath, you will accompany her to the grave–not even your father will shield you from my wrath.”
“Ah! Lift your foot! My leg!” Christopher shrieked, twisting uselessly beneath the crushing pressure.
Theodore drove his boot harder into the wounded limb, grinding the words out between gritted teeth. “Eternal Ganoderma. Whether your mother possesses it or not, you will retrieve it for me. If Margaret dies, your life ends immediately.
“Your father may remain ignorant of your crimes, but your mother has long plotted ways to clean up your messes. Only the Eternal Ganoderma can mend Margaret’s failing body–and only that same herb can spare you from execution. Choose wisely.”
With that final warning, Theodore turned on his heel and strode out of the hall.
The instant the doors swung open, Cyan darted forward, eyes blazing with urgent hope. “My lord! We have found the Eternal Ganoderma!”

Surprise flared bright across Theodore’s weary features. “What? Speak quickly.

“Shortly after we departed the manor, shadow guards rushed to deliver word. An unknown figure slipped a full stalk of Eternal Ganoderma beside Mr. Kingson. He seized it the moment he discovered it and brewed a curative tonic at once for Ms. Campbell. Her life is no longer hanging in the Balance!”
Relief crashed over Theodore in a single overwhelming wave. Without a second’s delay, he rallied his retinue and raced away from the Crown Prince’s Estate at breakneck speed.
Only once his entourage vanished down the road did Christopher’s servants dare flood back into the hall.
Roy hurried to his master’s side, slipping an arm beneath the crown prince’s shoulders to prop him upright. “Your Highness–are you badly hurt?”
Christopher shot him a livid glare, every muscle taut with throbbing pain. “Do I look unharmed? Fetch the royal physicians this instant!”
A squad of waiting guards sprinted off toward the palace infirmary at the shouted order.
Anxiety lined Roy’s features as he leaned closer to speak, “Prince Theodore’s conduct today was unforgivable. He brazenly stormed our estate and assaulted you purely to avenge a woman. We must bring this before King Spencer and Queen Norma without delay.
Rage soured Christopher’s tone. “And have Father turn his anger upon me instead?”
Roy’s head drooped, yet he persisted with his reasoning “We cannot swallow this humiliation without retaliation. Even if King Spencer reprimands you once he hears the full story, he will undoubtedly deem Margaret irreparably compromised. Any prospect of a bond between her and Theodore will crumble entirely.”
Christopher ground his teeth, resentment thick in his voice. “Do you think I have not weighed that outcome? If I manipulate events to force Margaret into marrying me, what do I gain? Her reluctant company–and Father’s complete loss of faith in my ability to rule.”
Roy bowed his head in hasty deference. “Of course, Your Highness. I spoke out of turn.”
“Did you catch every word Uncle Theodore shouted just now?” Christopher pressed r
Hesitation slowed Roy’s reply. “He… rambled about Margaret suffering from fatal poison, requiring Eternal Ganoderma as an antidote. He demanded you retrieve the herb from Queen Norma, yet his messengers later claimed they’d already obtained it. The whole account left me thoroughly confused.”
A bitter sneer twisted Christopher’s bruised lips. “It was nothing more than a weak aphrodisiac incense- there is no way it could threaten Margaret’s life. They inflated the severity of her condition solely to manufacture a valid excuse to attack me.”
“I share your suspicion, Your Highness.”
Christopher’s anger reached a boiling point, fists clenched so tight his knuckles whitened. “He hides behind old battlefield glory to walk all over me time and again, and now he has stolen the woman meant to be mine. All the trouble my incense caused only worked to his benefit. Curse him–curse Theodore to his bones!”

By the time Theodore galloped back to the Ducal Palace, Darren had finished simmering the life–saving antidote over a low flame.

spare moment remained to question the mysterious source of the Eternal Ganoderma. Theodore snatched the ceramic bowl filled with dark medicinal broth and hurried straight to Margaret’s bedside.
Megan crouched beside the mattress with a basin of warm water, tending to the unconscious woman with gentle care. Whenever stray droplets of the bitter liquid dribbled down Margaret’s jaw, the maid dabbed them away without a wasted motion.
