“I went out with Stella today. Everyone said I was even prettier than her, and that I’d go far when I grow up. I’m so happy.”
“Stella likes Chris. Father says they’re going to be betrothed–a perfect match, everyone says…”
“Lately, I feel so hungry all the time, like I just can’t help myself. Father scolded me again. I wonder how Jasper stays so slender. I should ask him.”
“Stella’s gone missing. Everyone says it’s my fault, but I really didn’t do anything. Father punished me for three days, and Jasper won’t even talk to me now.”
“I asked Jasper to speak up for me today. He said Stella went missing because of me. But it wasn’t my fault -why won’t anyone believe me?”
“Now I’m betrothed to Chris. They all say I stole Stella’s match, but it was Jasper and Father’s idea. Why isn’t anyone defending me?”
“Chris has grown up so handsome. I really do like him. I hope he can walk again someday. So many physicians say he could recover–I’ll stay by his side until he does.”
“My body feels heavier and heavier these days, but at least Chris is walking again. And he’s been named Crown Prince now. How wonderful.”
“Winter says my handwriting is getting much neater. I wish Jasper and Chris could see how I’ve improved… but Father told me not to bother Jasper, and Chris hasn’t said a word about my writing either.”
“They say Stella’s been found.”
Scattered across the floor lay sheets of paper, all the same size, impossible to tell when each had been

The handwriting started clumsy and childish, but showed clear improvement–the topmost pages were neatly, evenly written.

swirled behind his eyes.
Standing beside him, Roy whispered cautiously, “Weren’t you rushing back to plead for Stella? She’s been locked in a cage…
Christopher looked dazed, an inexplicable bitterness tightening his throat. “She deserves it.”
Roy could only stare, stunned into silence.
Jasper said nothing, tears rolling quietly down his cheeks. Not a single word in Stella’s defense passed his lips.
Theodore motioned for his men to gather the scattered pages. Taking the stack, he leafed through them one by one before letting out a low, pained laugh.

Silence hung thick over the Prime Minister’s Estate.”
Outside, the morning streets were packed.
Word had spread like wildfire–the Prime Minister’s pampered heiress, locked in a cage, was being paraded through the city for all to see.
Crouched in a corner of the cage, shaven–headed and clad in ragged prison clothes, she hid her face between her knees.
Even the most beautiful features couldn’t mask the filth and humiliation she wore.
Yet the spectacle drew crowds from every corner.
“Is that really the Prime Minister’s daughter, Stella? How could she fall so low?”
