Chapter 33 She Felt Really Good
Margaret was too angry to speak. “Believe it or not–I don’t care.”
Jasper stepped into the room and grabbed her wrist—hard. “I came here to warn you herause I care about you. Don’t you get it? If word gets out that you’ve been messing around with some carriage driver, no one will ever want you. Not even Crown Prince Christopher will”
“I already told you, Margaret said, completely fed up. “Prince Theodore gave me a ride home. What more do you want me to say?”
But Jasper exploded. “Do you think I haven’t seen Prince Theodore’s carriage? It’s gilded. Surrounded by guards and soldiers. There’s no way he’d ride in something as plain as-”
“When he travels in disguise.” Margaret cut him off, yanking her hand back, “it’s perfectly normal to take an ordinary carriage.
“I’ve told you the truth. You just don’t want to believe it. Since you don’t, maybe you should leave. Please get out, Jasper.”
Jasper looked at her like she was a lost cause. “How did you end up like this?”
Margaret pressed her lips together.
“You were never the smartest girl,” Jasper said, “but at least you used to listen to me. Look at you now. Do you even act like a proper lady anymore?”
He took a deep breath, disappointment written all over his face. “Fine. I admit I neglected you before. But that’s no excuse to throw yourself away. Do you even know that Crown Prince Christopher is supposed to propose tomorrow? Because of how awful you’ve become, he’s thinking of backing out.
“I had to suck up to his people just to find out the truth. The prince still cares about you. He’s been waiting for you to give in. If you just behave well tomorrow, he’ll still ask for your hand. All you have to do is accept walking in together with Stella–you’re sisters. What’s the big deal if you enter through the main gate at the same time? You’ll be the Crown Princess. She’ll only be the Royal Consort. Do you really need to make things harder for her?”
Margaret felt like hitting him. But she knew that wouldn’t solve anything.
So she swallowed her anger. “Please leave, Jasper.”
“Can’t you just listen to me for once? Apologize to Crown Prince Christopher tomorrow. Apologize to Stella. Cut things off cleanly with that driver. I will make sure the rumors don’t reach the prince’s ears.” He exhaled deeply. “This is your only chance.”
Margaret couldn’t hold back anymore. She shoved him out the door. furious. “Give that chance to Stella, Keep it tight. I’m tired of talking to you. Believe me or not–I don’t care.”
Jasper looked like he was about to cough up blood. “Margaret—“
“Jasper. Her voice was ice. “You don’t deserve to call yourself my brother. Save your nonsense. Get los ”

Chapted She Felt Really Good
She slammed the door in his face.
If I didn’t kick him out now, I’d end up poisoning him with one of my needles.
He is so infuriating.
Outside, Jasper’s eyes were already red. After a long moment, he spoke, his voice low “I have done everything I could to raise you right. I’ve gone above and beyond. Don’t come crying to me later.”
Then he turned and walked away.
When things finally quieted down outside, Winter timidly spoke up. “Ms. Campbell… are you okay?”
“Do you think I’m in the wrong, 100?” Margaret’s voice was cold.
Winter quickly shook her head. “No, that’s not what I meant…
“Then leave.”
Winter bit her lip. “Ms. Campbell, let’s not talk about that. Let’s talk about something else…
But Margaret stayed cold. So Winter tried again. “I heard Ms. Stella Campbell suddenly got sick. They’ve called in doctor after doctor, but no one knows what’s wrong with her. I tried to find out more, but I couldn’t get anything. Even Mr. Jasper Campbell doesn’t seem to know what’s going on. Just that she’s locked herself in her room. It’s very strange…
Margaret wasn’t surprised at all.
There’s no way Stella would let anyone talk about her real symptoms.
If word got out that she’s losing her hair, she’d be the biggest joke in Breston.
