Nolan’s POV
Five days.
I counted every one of them.
Every night, I found myself reaching out for her through the bond, desperate for even a trace of connection. I replayed our last conversation over and over, wondering if I’d said enough, if she knew how much I trusted her. Sleep came hard, and when it did, my dreams were filled with moving shadows and the sound of her voice just out of reach.
I was at my desk, sorting through the week’s paperwork, when Marco came in without knocking. He sat down across from me and stretched his legs out, acting like he owned the place. I shot him a look until he put his feet down.
“Nothing on the rogues,” he said. “No sign of them at any of the markers. It’s like they packed up and left, which is not like them.”
I frowned. “That’s not good. What are they up to?”
“No idea, but I’d take this over daily attacks.” He looked at me, then at the pile of reports under my hand. “You’ve been in this office or out on the training field every day for five days. The warriors keep asking me to come back.”
“I need to stay busy. If I stop, I just think about her. She still hasn’t reached out, Marco. Not once,” I said.
Marco nodded, understanding what it’s like to miss your mate. “Has the coven sent any word or an update?”
“Nothing from them as well.”
“Then drive out there and check on her. The Lost Woods accept us now. You could sneak in, check on her, and leave,” Marco answered.
“I’m not doing that,” I said firmly.
“Nolan, come on.”
“No. If she found out I was checking on her, like she’s a pup who can’t be trusted, she’d be furious and she’d have every right. Talia told me to trust her. I’m not going to break that trust two days before she comes back. I won’t make that mistake again.”
Marco’s mouth twitched. “That never stopped you before.”
“I mean it. I have learned from my mistakes.”
“Because by my count, we’re closer to the fourth.”
I gave him a flat look. He just raised his hands and grinned.
“Come to lunch,” he said as he stood up. “Della’s been cooking all morning, and she’ll be impossible if no one eats. Come sit for an hour and act like a person.”
I was about to answer, but then I felt Solon reaching out through the mind link. He was being pretty insistent.

The readers' comments on the novel: Second Chance for the Barren Luna (Talia and Jason)
I really like this book however, it is getting too tiring of too much of the lack of use of common sense and repetitive motion of Talia being stubborn (stupid) to be caught/kidnapped so many times. I still do enjoy it just getting a little tiring. Thank you!...
I really appreciate the author taking the time to write this book! Keep up the good work. This has become my sweet treat to read before bed every night after I get my kids down. Keeps you on the edge waiting for what happens next! So adventurous and really compelling story line. Truly appreciate the hard work that it has taken to write something of this nature and level. Thank you author....
