“His arm is fractured in three places. I need to operate on him. He has a knee dislocation and based on the CT scan he has swelling of the spleen and a kidney. Time will tell if we need to do anything about those. The brain interestingly enough is fine so no concussion or anything but he’s got a hell of a bump and

bruise on his forehead.”

January was staring at Gulliver, who was naked aside from a thin sheet covering him from the waist down while the doctor delivered his verdict. The clinic they were in was a equipped with medical equipment to rival a state–of–the–art hospital but it was one floor, five rooms and ice cold. Glenn had told her that one of the first things Gulliver did was get this clinic set up when they realized they were staying in the state.

“You will operate on him here?”

“Yes. The next room,” he pointed through to some doors, “is ready for him. Everything I anticipated I might need is ready to go. My nurses are here to assist.”

“And you’re an orthopedic surgeon?” she repeated what Glenn had already told her.

“Yes. I started out in emergency medicine at the beginning of my earger but realized ortho was more lucrative. The way these guys break bones, it made more sense for my specialty. My family has

“If you’re not realizing it yet, sister,” Glenn commented quietly, “he’s waiting your permission to take Gulliver in.”

“Why mine? You’re his brother.”

“You’re his wife and the mother of the next vovoi. It means you’re his true second in command.”

She nodded, “take him in. If he dies under anesthesia though I’ll shoot you myself.” She looked at the doctor coldly.

“I’ve not lost one yet to such a thing,” he smirked at her, “but your warning is duly noted.” He motioned to a couple of nurses who began pushing the gurney into the next room. She watched the door close sealing them off and grunted.

“How is your head?” the question from Glenn made her grimace.

“Hurts like hell because the drugs are starting to wear off. I thought for sure it would be more volatile in the house.”

“It helped to have our eyes on the house to grab everyone who came out to shove them in the van. There may be one or two stragglers but realistically they’re not going to come at Gulliver now. We’ve cut off the head of the serpent in wiping out the three key players of Ziogas and all the affiliates.” He tugged her hand to sit beside him on a pair of rickety chairs.

“Iis body has been recovered. He will be returned to New York to his family and we’ll take care of them.”

“His family?” she asked quietly,

“A mother and a sister. He provided for them. We’ll make sure they don’t feel a financial loss from his death.” He looked at his phone, “Dad is with the group who have Duchess. It seems she is awake and screaming that Gulliver owes her a child. He’s asking if he can simply shoot her in the head and be done with it.”

“No. I’m going to deal with her myself.” January snarled furiously. “I’m going to make sure when she dies she knows it’s at my hand. She was plotting to rape my husband, Glenn.”

“The guys tell me she had a bunch of Viagra on hand. She was going to feed them to him along with some kind of aphrodisiac from god knows where.” Glenn grimaced.

“An aphrodisiac? Are they even a real thing? Like seriously? Do they work?”

“Why are you asking January?” he wiggled his eyebrows at her and ducked away from her smack

“Because I’d like to make that bitch swallow them and then sit there surrounded by men who won’t help her scratch an itch. I’d love to see her incredibly uncomfortable like a cat in heat with no way to make it better.”

Glenn looked at her incredulous, you are diabolical.”
