Second chance for the Mafia prince (January and Gulliver) novel Chapter 185

Explanations Part I

Gulliver walked into the house without knocking, an easy breezy smile on his face, arrogant with the belief they were back on level playing ground. He lied about their marriage. She hid a child.

January could read his posture and grimaced as she rose from her place on the sofa to glare at him.

You’re not wanted here.

What a pity.He made wide eyes at her and looked around the room searchingly.

January wondered what he was looking for and then he moved with the relaxed ease of someone in complete control and walked to a bookshelf in the corner of the room and lifted a photo which held January and Kaylee in it on the day Kaylee was born. He was wordless as he flipped it over, undid the back of the frame and pulled the photo out. He studied it carefully and then slid it into his inside his coat pocket. He looked around and found a more recent photo of Kaylee blowing out candles on her seventh birthday. He repeated his actions ignoring Analia’s whispered protests. He nodded to a bigger photo of Kaylee on the wall when she would have been four.

She’s beautiful. Ford is correct though. She and Mitsos could be wins. We’ve been teasing Mitsos for years saying he is ThisB06

little double from when she was a child. I’ll have to get my mother to send over Thisbe’s photo album. She’s kept one of each of us over the years. He inhaled deeply and gave a low laugh, she brought the skunk into the house?

Analia gave a huff and looked at January, I told you I could still smell it in here. Seven hundred dollars to clean this place out and it still smells of rodent.

His low laugh was grating all over January’s skin. Technically it’s not a rodent. It’s more like a weasel. It was quite cute. I’ve been watching Henry’s progress on the rehab center’s platform. He’s doing well.

You’re not here to talk about a fucking skunk.

I don’t recall you swearing as much as you have today, my love.He turned to face her with a glint in his eye. It would be quite sexy if your parents weren’t in the room. With elders in the room though, it’s unattractive.

His comment felt like a piercing sting, and she rudely extended her middle finger in his face, how’s that for unattractive. If you find me appalling then leave. It would make us all so happy.

Can’t do it.

Why not?the growled question from her father made Gulliver girl him a look which made the older man step backy_rds.09:06

Terrance, you and I, I thought were friends. I treated you well. I offered you respect. I was never rude or careless with my words in front of you. Yet, you have the nerve to judge me over a few misplaced fears and a misunderstanding which if I was ever allowed to explain, could have cleared up quite a bit. Instead, you have allowed eight years of prejudice and anger turn into hatred for me. It’s unfortunate.

Why is it unfortunate?

Because I know my daughter is going to come here after school and see me and she is going to have one of two reactions. One. She’s going to hate me because the three of you have trained her to hate me. Alternatively, number two, she’s going to be terrified of me because you’ve fed her so much bullshit about me being the boogey man under her bed, that she’s likely to piss her pants in fear. It means, I’m seven years of missing out on my child. I missed everything from first steps to first words and first day of school. Knowing how much my brother treasured all of those memories with his son, I’m already feeling saddened. Knowing that I have an uphill battle with my daughter because the three of you have poisoned her against me, well, I’m not happy about it.

We didn’t,January spoke up, her words catching in her throat and she rubbed her neck nervously. I um, I told her she didn’t have a dad.

And you would do this why?

I told her that some people just don’t have dads and she was one of them.

How does she think she arrived on earth? A spaceship?

The sarcasm from his lips made her fists ball up and she noted the glitter in his eyes as he relished her response.
