Second Chance His Unending Love (Calista Hartwell) novel Chapter 150

< Chapter 150

The staff in charge gave a cold laugh. “You think this is some gangster movie? Trying to force a confession?”

Bradley walked in expressionlessly and took the seat at the head of the table, glancing sideways at Nicole.

She sat with one leg crossed over the other, posture almost defiant-casual to the point of looking like a street punk.

Hearing her words, Austin-who had been holding his breath-finally relaxed.

He then followed his father and grandmother inside.

Nicole spotted them entering and gave a quick, deliberate wink-her signal that she’d kept quiet.

Relief washed over Austin in a warm rush. He shifted his stance ever so slightly, angling his body toward Killian, silent assurance that they were on her side.

Bradley took note of the exchange but let it pass without remark.

He passed his tablet to his secretary and gestured toward the lowered projector screen.

With a faint smile, he looked at the stubborn Nicole

before him.

“We wouldn’t have called you here without evidence, Ms. Anderson. See for yourself.”

The secretary played a video.

In it, Nicole stood with arms crossed, negotiating with

Ethan, who was seated on a bench.

The recording appeared to be taken on a phone-th frame shaky, audio slightly muffled.

But the conversation came through clearly enough.

The price started at 50 thousand dollars, then climbed to 300 thousand.

After that, the video cut off.

Austin stared, wide-eyed, at the now-black screen, hist mouth slightly agape.

So it really was 300 thousand!

No matter what others said, he had believed her.

How could she do this? He could have won.

Nicole, realizing she’d been filmed without her knowledge, shot a guilty look toward the Frosts, her mind racing.

Who had set her up? Who filmed this?

Olivia?

Or Calista?

Desperate, she turned to Killian. “Killian, actually 1

He raised a hand, cutting her off coldly.

Money matters could be dealt with in private.

Right now, his priority was protecting Frost Group and

Austin.

Having weathered countless corporate storms, he regarded this as a minor squall.

A shaky video wouldn’t make him lose his composure.

“The video only shows a negotiation, not an outcome -and certainly no written agreement. What kind of evidence is this, Mr. Ferrer? Perhaps Ms. Anderson was just joking with Ethan, or they were role-playing.”

Bradley remained unruffled. “We’ll clarify things with Ethan once the competition ends.”

Not wanting to be branded as someone who rigged matches, Austin forced down his anger and spoke up loudly, “What’s the point of asking him? We never bribe anyone. I already lost to Ethan—that’s proof enough!”

Nicole nodded vigorously.

“Exactly! Who even reported me? Who’s trying to frame me?” She glared defiantly. “Was it Calista? She’d do anything to help her daughter win!”

Speak of the devil.

The conference room door swung open once more.

Evander and Calista walked in side by side, their presence instantly thickening the already tense atmosphere.

Evander’s gaze swept the room before settling on Killian, a faint smile appearing on his face.

“Short on funds, Mr. Frost? Seems you’re being rather frugal these days.”

At his words, Killian’s face darkened.

Bradley smoothly took over, tone indifferent. “When Frost divorced his wife, he only gave her 50 million. hundred thousand isn’t so little for him. Unlike you, M Hayes-you’re known for your generosity, sponsoring such a large prize pool for this competition.”

Evander raised a brow and gave a soft, almost amused click of his tongue.
