“Quinn,” Julian said quietly, his voice rougher than usual, “are you trying to kill me here?”
Because he knew something very clearly.
No matter what Quinn did right now, he couldn’t cross that line.
Finished
If the day ever came when they were truly intimate, it would only happen when Quinn was completely sober and willing.
Not like this.
Tonight she was drunk. What was he supposed to do? If she wanted to touch him, the only thing he could
do was let her.
What he didn’t understand was why she suddenly had this fascination with his abs.
Did she always go around touching people’s abs when she got drunk?
The thought that she might have done this to someone else before made Julian’s expression darken.
He caught her wandering hand and held it still.
“Do you even know who I am?” he asked.
Quinn looked up at him when she heard his voice. Her eyes blinked slowly, thick lashes moving up and down. “Huh? What?”
Her voice came out soft and syrupy, almost like she was acting cute without realizing it.
Julian felt his chest soften instantly. For a second he nearly leaned down and kissed her.
Right now Quinn looked completely defenseless, soft and unaware of the danger she was stirring up.
And he felt like a man who had been holding himself back for far too long. If his self-control had been even slightly weaker, he might have already pulled her onto the bed and lost every bit of restraint.
t
“I asked,” Julian said, forcing himself to stay calm, “do you know who I am? And what were you touching just now? Have you done that to anyone else?”
“You?”
Quinn tilted her head, studying him with surprising seriousness.
Julian almost cursed under his breath. This version of Quinn made him want to kiss her even more.
After a moment, she spoke slowly, “You’re… Julian. Yeah. Julian.”
Julian’s lips curved slightly. “So you do know my name,” he said. “I thought you only called me Mr. Sterling.”

Chapter 136 Losing Control
Quinn narrowed her eyes. “Julian,” she said again.
Then she suddenly grimed. “Julian is a jerk.”
Finished
She seemed to discover a perfect outlet for her frustration and immediately ran with it. “Julian is a jerk,” she repeated, giggling. “Such a jerk.”
Julian gritted his teeth, then laughed despite himself.
“If I were really that bad,” he said, glancing down at her, his throat tightening again, “you wouldn’t be standing here doing this to me. Quinn, seriously. You’re going to be the death of me.”
“His abs look really nice,” Quinn murmured, still lost in her own world. “They feel nice too. Julian’s abs are nice.”
Julian frowned slightly. “What did you say?”
He leaned closer. “Whose abs look nice?”
“Julian!” Quinn said loudly. “His abs look the best. Nobody else’s look as good as his.”
Something about that sentence sounded familiar. Julian thought for a moment, then remembered.
The night he caught her and Lucy sneaking out to a bar, he had asked her on the drive home if abs were nice to touch.
If they looked good.
Is she answering that question now?
“My abs look good?” he asked slowly, the corner of his mouth lifting. “You like them?”
Quinn reached over again.
“Julian’s,” she said dreamily. “Julian’s abs…”
Her fingers slid lower, drifting toward his belt.
Julian grabbed her wrist immediately.
Damn. I’m already struggling to control myself.
r
If her hand moved any further, he honestly wasn’t sure how much longer he could hold back.
Even now the situation was already painful.
Quinn suddenly leaned back slightly, frowning.
“What is that?” she muttered. “Something feels weird… you’re uncomfortable… jerk.”
Julian almost laughed bitterly.
With the way she was acting, if he had no reaction at all, she might actually cry about it someday.

Chapter 136 tosing Control
Finished
The problem was that she was teasing him while completely out of it.
He had to endure it. Luckily Quinn’s drunken energy was running ou
After her little outburst, her body softened with exhaustion. She collapsed against him again, complaining even as she leaned on his chest.
“I’m sleepy,” she mumbled. “I want to sleep…”
Before the sentence was even finished, her eyes were already closed. She leaned against his chest and went completely still.
Julian didn’t know whether to laugh or sigh.
“Quinn?” he said softly. “Quinn?”
No response.
Carefully, he lifted her again and laid her gently on the bed. This time she really had fallen asleep.
Her eyelashes rested quietly against her cheeks, soft and peaceful. The delicate curve under her eyes made her look almost childlike.
Her nose was slender and straight. Her lips were full and rosy.
Her chin wasn’t sharply pointed, just slightly soft, the kind that probably felt nice to touch.
Only then did Julian realize his hand had somehow ended up on her cheek. His fingertips brushed lightly against her skin.
Before he could stop himself, Julian lowered his head and pressed a gentle kiss to her lips.
Just a brief touch. The moment it happened, he pulled back as if he had been shocked.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to kiss her.
The problem was that once he started, he wasn’t sure he could stop. He was a man with perfectly normal desires.
The fact that he had held himself back this long already required an incredible amount of restraint.
Right now it felt like every nerve in his body was about to snap.
Julian looked at Quinn one more time. Then he turned away and walked into the bathroom.
He stood there for a while to calm down before splashing cold water onto his face.
