Chapter 230 Too Late to Fix
Chase hadn’t slept much the night before.
Jowshed
Everything Rosalie said kept replaying in his head, and the more he thought about it, the clearer it became that he had misunderstood Quinn more times than he could count.
He owed her more than just an apology.
Their marriage had started without much thought, and if she wanted to end it now, then maybe he should let her.
But the moment he saw her walking toward him, something shifted.
A thought surfaced, one he hadn’t expected.
Maybe they didn’t have to end it after all.
Now that he saw Rosalie for who she really was, he knew those feelings were gone.
And if that was the case, then turning back to Quinn didn’t seem unreasonable.
She had always been gentle, steady, and she had cared about him in a way that felt reliable.
If they tried again, maybe things could actually work.
He stood up, a smile forming naturally. “Quinn.”
Quinn didn’t return it. “You’re here. Let’s get this done.”
“Wait,” Chase said, stepping in front of her.
Quinn’s expression tightened slightly. “What now?”
“I owe you an apology,” he said. “For everything.”
Quinn nodded once. “I hear you. I accept it.”
Because it no longer mattered. Accepting it didn’t cost her anything.
After today, he would no longer be part of her life. Chase’s eyes lit up. “So you forgive me?”
“Yes.”
“Then let’s not go through with the divorce,” he said quickly, reaching for her hand.
Quinn stepped back before he could touch her. “Excuse me?”
Chase smiled, convinced. “If you’ve forgiven me, that means you still care. We don’t have to end this. I’ll treat you right this time, I mean it.”
Quinn looked at him, disbelief clear in her eyes.

Finished
“I’m serious,” he continued. “I’m done with Rosalie. From now on, I’ll focus on you. Let’s make this work.”
Quinn let out a quiet breath, her voice steady, “Chase, I stopped having feelings for you a long time ago.”
“I don’t believe that.” he insisted. “You forgave me so easily, that has to mean something. If it were me, I wouldn’t forgive someone like that.”
“I forgave you because it doesn’t matter anymore,” Quinn said, her tone calm but distant. “You don’t matter to me anymore. You’re just someone from my past, nothing more. Why would I waste energy holding onto anything?”
Chase’s expression faltered. “Quinn… you used to care about me.”
“That was then,” she said. “Let’s not drag this out.”
This wasn’t over for him.
He was going to win her back.
Signing those papers didn’t change that.
“Quinn,” he said, catching up to her as she walked out, “it’s done now, so let’s go get something to eat. My
treat.”
Quinn didn’t even glance at him.
“Don’t be stubborn,” he continued, keeping pace beside her. “Guys like that aren’t serious about you. I know I messed up, but I’ll make it right.”
She didn’t respond, and the silence between them stretched as they stepped outside, the conversation clearly over for her even though Chase was still talking, his words trailing on until they suddenly cut off mid–sentence.
Quinn slowed without thinking, her attention pulled elsewhere before she even realized it, because she had already seen him.
Julian was there, no longer sitting in the car, standing just ahead as if he had been waiting.
Before she could react, Chase had already stepped forward, his tone shifting instantly.
“Seven, what brings you here?”
