“Say what?” Geoffrey said. “You never even asked my name. I thought you actually liked me for who I am. Turns out… you just thought you’d hooked yourself a big shot.”

Stripped bare and exposed, Rosalie stopped pretending altogether.

“Look at yourself first. What makes you think you’re even good enough for me?”

Geoffrey didn’t rise to the anger. He even smiled faintly.

“I could say the exact same thing to you. Where did you get the idea that Mr. Sterling would ever look at someone like you?”

All Rosalie’s effort and hope had collapsed completely.

She shook her head, tears stinging her eyes. “How could this happen… how…”

“I never expected our meeting to turn out like this,” Geoffrey said. “Since we have nothing left to say to each other, goodbye.”

He turned and started to leave.

Rosalie stared at his back with a venomous glare.

Then, in a sudden flash, she remembered something critical.

“Wait!”

Geoffrey paused and turned around. “What is it?”

Rosalie forced her expression to soften and smiled at him. “Can we sit down and talk?”

Geoffrey was surprised. “You still want to talk to me?”

“I just… I misunderstood everything from the start, but the feelings I had these days were real. Can you believe me?”

Her eyes

softened, and she looked at him with a gentle, flattering gaze.

Geoffrey thought back to their sweet messages and conversations, and his heart softened.

He walked back. “I believe you.”

“Thank you.” Rosalie’s eyes glistened. “Let’s sit down and talk properly.”

Truth be told, Geoffrey had been quite fond of Rosalie.

He’d thought she was different from other women.

Rosalie thought to herself. Your status is nothing. Next to Julian, you’re worthless.

Since Geoffrey was on Julian’s secretariat, staying on good terms with him meant she might still be able to meet Julian,

Before long, a full report on their conversation and meeting was compiled and placed on Julian’s desk.

After reading it, Julian let out a cold, scornful laugh.

From the outside, it was obvious Rosalie had targeted Geoffrey on purpose, all because she’d mistaken him for Julian.

Julian felt nothing but deep disgust toward a woman like her.

He checked the time, organized the documents, and sent them over to Quinn.

Quinn had showered but couldn’t fall asleep.

She’d sat outside for too long, and her head was throbbing.

Her phone lit up. She picked it up and looked.

One glance left her stunned.

So Rosalie had been chatting, seeing someone, even thinking she was in a relationship–and she never even knew who the man actually was?
