Chapter 285 Longing Across the Distance
Yet she had already burned that bridge with him.
Proud as she was, she would never lower herself to reach out to Chase first.
She’d grown used to him chasing after her all this time.
The real reason she’d been hanging out with Chase’s friends was to run into him by chance.
At this point, she had no other options.
She’d thought she’d spent three years winning a man’s heart.
Only for it all to amount to nothing.

Even if she could get close to Julian now, she couldn’t afford to spend another three years making him fall for her.
So she couldn’t afford to lose Chase, the one who’d always worshipped her.
Now Chase was finally calling her.
Rosalie felt both triumphant and nostalgic.
She answered but said nothing.
Chase spoke directly, “You told my friends we’re going into business together?”
He hadn’t wanted to contact her, but one of his friends had called, saying he’d had dinner with Rosalie.
During the meal, she’d mentioned wanting to partner with Chase on a project.
The friend had asked if it was true.
Chase had no choice but to call Rosalie himself and ask.
Rosalie said, “I have been considering it. I was wondering what you thought, Mr. Sterling.”
Chase let out a dry laugh. “If I remember correctly, we’re not on speaking terms anymore.”
“Chase,” Rosalie said softly, “I just… didn’t want your feelings to go to waste. I care about you. No matter what you think, you’ll always have a special place in my heart.”
Chase froze for a moment.
He’d known Rosalie for years, and she’d always acted like she had his best interests at heart.
And he’d long grown used to obeying her every word.
Now Rosalie was talking about caring for him again, saying he held a special place in her heart.

It had tormented him for days.
He’d made up his mind to win Quinn back.
Now, when Rosalie spoke to him like this, his resolve only grew stronger.
He’d always considered himself loyal.
Falling for Rosalie before had just been a mistake.
Loving Quinn now was him finally finding his way.
Her words would have swayed him once.
But now his heart was set, and he would not be manipulated again.
“I appreciate that,” Chase said. “After all these years, it’s only natural I’d have a place in your heart. But as for business–let’s just drop it.”
Rosalie would never have contacted Chase first; she was too proud.
The whole business idea was just a trick to get his friends to mention it to him, so he’d reach out first.
And it worked.
