She started to pull back, but a strong arm wrapped around her waist.

She gasped as he pulled her tightly against him.

Their bodies pressed together, and she could hear the thud of both their hearts.

Julian leaned down while she tilted her head back.

The space between them vanished.

Quinn’s heart raced.

He’d kissed her before when she was drunk, but that had been in a haze. This was nothing like it.

Her heart was pounding so hard it felt like it would jump out of her chest. She clutched his shirt tightly.

“Nervous?” he smiled. “Where’d that courage go just now?”

“I… I should go inside,” she stammered.

“Not so fast,” Julian said. “You kissed me. You can’t just leave after that.”

“What… what do you want?”

“To kiss you back, of course.”

Quinn thought he’d just give her a light peck, like she had.

She had no idea Julian never did anything halfway.

He cradled the back of her head and pressed his lips firmly against hers.

Quinn’s mind went completely blank.

Blood rushed to her head, and her whole body trembled.

Julian’s heart was racing too.

She was trapped gently but firmly in his hold, with nowhere to go.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want this, or that she was only shy.

Julian was just too intense.
