Chapter 423 Ready to Face Her Birth Parents
Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked at Mark earnestly.

Mark pressed her hand against his cheek. “I told you not to get too worked up. I found a young woman who looks just like you, and we did a paternity test. She really is our daughter.”
“Good heavens.” Xenia pressed a hand to her chest. “It’s real. I have to see her right away.”
“Honey, our daughter is Julian’s girl,” Mark told her gently. “Don’t be upset. I will talk things through with him.
“I don’t care who he is. I want to see my own daughter. Does he have the right to stand in our way?” Xenia’s eyes turned red. “Can’t our daughter make her own choices?”
“I haven’t gotten to meet her yet. She got hurt recently. Don’t worry, her injuries are not serious. I will go talk to Julian and come back to tell you everything, alright?”
Mark settled Xenia down to rest, then went straight to find Julian.
Julian was already waiting for him. After talking it over with Quinn, she had made up her mind to meet her birth parents.
She wanted to know the truth behind why she was left outside the orphanage all those years ago. She wondered why her parents had let her go back then, and why they had started searching for her again after two decades. She also suspected she might not have been abandoned by them in the first place.
“I heard they lost their child back then,” Julian said softly. “That means they did not give you up willingly. Only they know the full truth of what really happened.”
Quinn stayed silent.
“No matter what the truth turns out to be, I will always stand by your side,” Julian added. “I will support every decision you make.”
Quinn leaned into his arms and nodded.
So when Mark arrived, Julian spoke up at once, “Quinn agrees to meet you two.”
Joy flared up in Mark’s heart.
Right after that, Julian continued, “But I need to know exactly what happened all those years ago.”
Those old events were too painful for Mark and Xenia to look back on. They had never imagined their child could go missing right inside their own home.
Surveillance systems were not widely used back then, and hardly anyone installed cameras inside their private houses. No one could figure out how their sleeping little girl had vanished without a trace.
Mark and Xenia had gone out to a social event that night. They did not stay long, for they kept thinking about their child at home. They hired a nanny to look after her, yet they still felt uneasy.

Mark’s expression turned grim. “I looked into them thoroughly back then, but I found absolutely no suspicious leads.”
“The lack of clues is suspicious enough on its own,” Julian said. “Now the truth is starting to show itself.”
Deep down, Mark could not bring himself to believe his own kin would do such a cruel thing. Yet his rational mind told him this was very likely the real truth.
He had never stopped searching for his daughter, nor had he let his guard down around other members of the Jinn family. All these years, Faye’s family had acted mild and obedient, always seeming to follow his every word.
