Chapter 66 An Awkward Ride

Quinn jerked her hand back as if she had touched something burning.

She stepped backward twice, her face turning even paler than before. Julian watched her reaction, his own expression darkening.

Without saying anything further, he wrapped an arm around Lucy’s shoulders to steady her.

“I’ll take you home.” he said.

He gu ded Lucy forward while Quinn followed a few steps behind them.

No one from the company dared to move.

Julian helped Lucy into the car before turning to Quinn. “Get in.”

Quinn hesitated.

She was worried about Lucy, but she did not want to ride in Julian’s car. Noticing her hesitation, Julian spoke again.

“You’ll need to take care of her during the drive.”

With that explanation, Quinn had no reasonable excuse left.

She quietly got into the car.

The driver glanced at Julian, received a silent signal, and hurried to open the front passenger door.

The bodyguards remained in the vehicle behind them. Once the car started moving, things were relatively calm at first.

Even though Julian’s presence seemed to make the air itself feel heavier, he was in the front seat and Quinn was in the back, which let her relax a little more easily.

For the first half of the drive, Lucy was fairly quiet..

She leaned against Quinn, mumbling occasionally but not causing too much trouble.

Then suddenly, halfway through the ride, Lucy slipped her hand under the hem of Quinn’s shirt and tried to push it farther inside.

Quinn immediately grabbed her wrist.

“Lucy, don’t do that,” she whispered gently.

Lucy was drunk and hazy, but being clingy with Quinn had always been second nature.

She twisted her body stubbornly.

“No way. Let me touch.”

The two of them often joked around like this when they were alone. Lucy was shamelessly mischievous and constantly tried to grope Quinn Witenever she caught her off guard.

More than once she had grabbed Quinn’s chest while laughing like it was the greatest joke in the world.

But Quinn had never imagined Lucy would suddenly try something like that while drunk in someone else’s car.

At first Julian did not realize what Lucy was trying to do.

When he glanced back and saw Lucy’s hand already inside Quinn’s shirt, his expression turned instantly dark

Lucy had always been a little afraid of him. Ever since childhood she had both admired and feared this older cousin. His voice alone was enough to intimidate her

But alcohol had clearly emboldened her tonight.

She giggled foolishly, her words tumbling out in a drunken blur.

“Seven… hehe… I wanna touch Quinn. Quinn’s so soft…”

Juliar’s expression darkened even further, and Quinn felt a wave of embarrassment crash over her, wishing she could disappear on the spot. Panicking, she quickly clapped a hand over Lucy’s mouth, but Lucy immediately wriggled free and shot her an offended look,

“Quinn, why won’t you let me touch you? Just let me feel for a second…”

Julian was sitting right there in the driver’s seat while Lucy kept saying things like that.

Quinn’s face burned with embarrassment.

“Lucy, be good.” she coaxed quietly. “Let’s just get home first, okay?”

Lucy stubbornly shook her head.

“Touch you when we get home? No. I wanna do it now.”

Quinn pulled Lucy’s hand out from under her shirt.

Lucy immediately tried a different approach and started reaching for Quinn’s collar instead.

Judging from the determination on her face, she clearly had no intention of giving up until she got what she wanted.

“Lucy.” Julian said again, his tone colder this time.

Lucy pouted.

“Why are you being so mean? You don’t even know how soft Quinn is. I just like it. Boohoo.”

Julian’s expression turned as dark as a thunderstorm.

Quinn hurried to cover Lucy’s mouth again. Please, just stop talking.

Julian took a slow breath. “Pull over,” he said.

The driver immediately steered the car to the side of the road. Julian stepped out, walked around to the back seat, and yanked the

Without the slightest bit of gentleness, he grabbed Lucy by the arm and dragged her out before stuffing her into the front passenger seat

He shut the door firmly.

Then he walked to the driver’s side where the driver had already stepped out.

“Go ride in the other car,” Julian said.

He gor behind the wheel and started the engine again.

Even after moving to the front seat, Lucy refused to sit still. She continued muttering under her breath.

“Quinn… where’s Quinn? She’s the prettiest. So soft. Quinn, I’m gonna hold you all night.”

Quinr sat in the back seat, overwhelmed with embarrassment. She wanted to reach forward and cover Lucy’s mouth again.

But Lucy was now sitting in the front passenger seat. If Quinn leaned forward, she would inevitably get closer to Julian.

She did not want that.

Julian drove in silence, his expression so cold that the atmosphere inside the car felt almost suffocating.

Fortunately Lucy soon forgot about her earlier mission. Instead she began singing loudly.

She squirmed restlessly in her seat like a kid who couldn’t sit still.

Eventually they reached Lucy’s apartment building. Julian grabbed her arm with one hand and pulled her out of the car.

“Ow, ow,” Lucy complained. “That hurts. Be gentle.”

“I’ll do it,” Quinn said quickly as she hurried over.

She had already noticed Julian had absolutely no patience when it came to Lucy. He was not even remotely gentle with her.

Thinking about it, he had probably treated Quinn the same way that night on the yacht.

That kiss had likely been nothing more than an accident.

Quinn lowered her gaze and avoided looking at him while she steadied Lucy’s swaying body.

“I’ll walk you both upstairs,” Julian said.

Quinn struggled to support Lucy by herself, so she did not refuse.

Fortunately Julian stayed on the other side of Lucy, leaving a comfortable distance between himself and Quinn

Quinn supported Lucy while Julian occasionally reached out to help.

Together they finally made it into the elevator.
