After the elaborate family lunch concluded, I managed to convince Caleb that Max would be safer returning to the secured compound with my parents, Carmen and Walter. Mountains of syndicate business still awaited our attention, and Max desperately needed rest away from the constant tension of our operations. Our parents understood the dangerous nature of our world completely and finally departed after their prolonged farewells, escorted by armed guards.

Scott and Heidi retreated to the lower floors to finalize the remaining money laundering documentation from our recent audit.

“Thank God! I thought they’d never leave,” Xavier groaned as the reinforced elevator doors sealed shut, collapsing into his leather chair behind the bulletproof desk.

I’ve observed your performance during our recent conflicts, Ruby, and you’re absolutely perfect for this opportunity.
