“Remy, Remy!”
A voice called from outside. It sounded like Audrey.
Remy stepped out of the kitchen, still wearing his apron.
“You’re busy—I’ll go see what she wants,” Elisa said, setting down the remote control. “She probably saw the lights on and figured you were home, so she’s calling you over for dinner.” By now, her family had probably already started eating.
Elisa grabbed a bag of snacks and walked outside while munching on them. “Mom?”
Audrey called out, “Elisa? You’re home too? Why didn’t you come over for dinner? We’re eating right now. Hurry up and tell Remy to come over—your grandpa Jimenez was just saying he hasn’t seen him in days!”
Remy had been busy entertaining clients lately, leaving little time to visit his in-laws for dinner.
Elisa smiled. “Mom, I want to eat Remy’s cooking tonight, so we’re staying in. You guys go ahead without us.”
