Duncan laughed, “You’re willing to accept that you’re getting old, but I’m not. I still feel young, as if we just got married.”
“Right, we just got married. Jiggy’s already in her twenties, and we ‘just got married’. Everyone gets old, whether or not they’re willing to accept it.
“I’m just willing to face reality. It’s not like I can actually become younger by saying I’m still young, so why lie to myself?”
Duncan chuckled as he drove, “Alright, alright, let’s face reality. We’re all old now. Once Sonny gets married and has kids, we can retire and just play with the grandkids at home.”
“He’s not getting married. Every time I nag him, he says he’s busy and that he will eventually get married, but when I ask him to go on blind dates, he refuses to. Serenity’s helping to keep an eye out for him too, but what good is it if he won’t even meet them?”
“We’re not the ones getting married, so there’s no point in us liking the girl. He has to be the one who likes her. And he’s not the type to fall in love at first sight either. He’s more of the type who falls in love gradually. As long as he’s willing to give someone a chance, he’ll eventually develop feelings for her.”
“The girl I have my eye on this time is quite good. I’ve asked about her character in detail and met with her a few times. She’s four years younger than Sonny, which isn’t a problem. She won’t mind that Sonny’s a bit older.”
A four-year age gap between a man and a woman was not that big.
Besides, if the man were a little older, he would tend to be a little more doting.
Whenever the topic of her son’s marriage was brought up, Liberty would go on and on about it.
Duncan had heard her grumbling about Sonny so often that his ears practically felt calloused.
“Didn’t Serenity say that Sonny had a very good impression of the Clearfield Flemmings’ daughter?”
“She did, but they haven’t had much contact since then. After the deal was finalized, the work was delegated to others, and Sonny didn’t really stay involved, so he’s had less contact with Ms. Flemming.
“I have no idea what that boy is thinking.” Liberty sighed. “Children just grow up and do as they please.”
“Maybe his true love just hasn't come yet. Don’t worry so much about it. Everyone has their own destiny. Once it comes around, they’ll naturally get to know each other, fall in love, and get married.”
Just like how theirs came about quite late.
Before he got to know Liberty, his family elders had been very worried too. They nagged him to settle down every day, but nothing worked, and at the time, he had not thought about getting married either.
He thought he would stay single for the rest of his life, just like that.
Liberty said, “When my son was still young, I thought I wouldn’t nag him to settle down like others did. But now that he’s all grown up and getting older every year, while others my age are grandmothers by now, my son doesn’t even have a girlfriend. I couldn’t help getting anxious and becoming one of the naggers.”
