Sonny opened the doors as Heath got out of the car and instructed his driver to head back for now and pick him up the next morning.

He followed Sonny into the villa.

“Your house is quiet too, Sonny.”

“Of course, it’s quiet at night. I’m usually the only one living here too. You’re much luckier than I am. At least your parents are with you. Callie left home only after she started university, too, and you guys all lived together before that.

“My mom rarely has time to make the trip back from Jensburg. Dunc and Jiggy too. If I want some liveliness, I have to go to your house.”

Heath recognized Sonny had a point and smiled, “That’s true. I’m really lucky.”

“Of course you are. I’m not that bad off either. We’re all really lucky, so we shouldn’t complain and take what we have for granted.

“How’s the company?”

Heath answered as he walked, “It’s running smoothly, which is great. It’s just really busy. When I think back to my childhood, I always felt my parents didn’t spend enough time with us, but now that I’ve taken over the family business, I realize how hard it must have been for them back then.

“If you asked me to follow my parents’ example, leaving the office by ten and spending weekends at home with the kids, resting, I might not be able to do it.”

It took a lot of effort to squeeze out even a little bit of time.

Tonight, he had actually gotten off work pretty early. He normally worked through the night and went to work as usual the next morning. If he got tired, he would take a ten-minute break and have a cup of coffee before continuing his work.
