Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 5553

"Weekends are for taking it easy. We can just take a ride around the city. We should make the most of our free time and go out, see things, and have fun while we're still able to get around."

Duncan suggested again, "Go upstairs and take a nap later. I'll wake you when it's time for lunch. What do you want to eat?"

"I don't want to sleep. I'd rather go for a walk and enjoy the scenery.

"For lunch, it'll just be the two of us, so let's make it simple. Eating rich food every day gets boring."

Liberty said, "Let's cook together for lunch. We're both working, so neither of us has it easier than the other. We should share the housework at home. I can't keep leaving everything to you."

Duncan laughed. "How much housework do we actually have to do? I only cook when we're home and taking a break. My cooking isn't very good, so you have to give me more opportunities to practice.

"Zachary said practice makes perfect. The more you cook, the better you get. His food is so good. I figure I should learn a thing or two from him."

Liberty said, "I'm not picky. As long as it's cooked, I'll eat it."

Even after becoming the matriarch of the Fisher family for decades, Liberty's lifestyle had not changed much. She did not care for luxury and was not fussy about anything. She was remarkably easy-going.

Although she held tightly to the authority inherited from the previous matriarch, she treated the family much better. As long as the younger generation was capable, she was willing to bring them into Fisher Enterprise. However, they all had to start from the bottom.

How far they climbed depended entirely on their ability. Even her own daughter, the heir of the Fisher family, had started at the entry level when she joined the company.

Jeanne had worked at Fisher Enterprise for several years before reaching her current position.

Liberty always told her that if she wanted everyone in the company to respect her, she had to prove herself with results. Thus, Jeanne had never been given special treatment.

The Fisher family respected Liberty far more than they had Belinda, the previous matriarch. They also thought well of Jeanne. After all, they had watched her grow up and knew what kind of person she was.
