Seven Cubs, Seven Fathers, Zero Days Off novel Chapter 12

Chapter 12: Chapter 12: I Am a Single Male, I Don’t Have a Female Master.

A few days ago, he had escaped after countless hardships and made his way to the barbaric land of the K Empire. He had originally planned to live out the rest of his life here in obscurity. As a cripple, he had long been abandoned by his family and the Royal City.

But then he met A Yue.

It was A Yue who gave him a chance to truly live again, a chance he hadn’t dared to dream of for the past ten years.

She was the one who helped him rediscover his lost power and confidence.

Feeling the power that was continuously gathering in his body and his recovering spiritual power, he was as happy as a child.

But then he remembered he had left without even saying a word of thanks to A Yue, so he had rushed back.

As a result, he found no sign of A Yue or the cubs in the cave, only a line of words she had left on the ground.

That was why he had hurried over to find her, only to witness the heart-stopping scene from moments before.

Thankfully, he had returned in time. Otherwise, if anything had happened to her and the cubs, he would have regretted it for the rest of his life.

His thoughts shifted, and he looked at her, secretly vowing to himself, ’From now on, I will be the one to protect A Yue and the cubs.’

’I will never let these seven little cubs grow up without a biological father, nor will I let anyone call her and the children bastards ever again.’

...

Shen Yue followed Si Muye back to his cave.

For two straight days, Dabao did not wake up.

While worrying about Dabao, Shen Yue worked with Si Muye to rearrange the cave.

Si Muye also wove several soft grass mats so the other cubs would have a place to sleep after they hatched.

He also gathered some stones from outside that resembled stone griddles, making it easier for Shen Yue to cook.

But these could only be used for things like roasting meat; they couldn’t be used to make soup.

Shen Yue thought for a moment. ’Xiong Jiaojiao stole so many of this body’s original owner’s tools before. I wonder if I can get them back. I seem to recall there was a stone pot that can be used for making soup.’

’If I had those things, Dabao could drink the nourishing soup I make for him when he wakes up, and he’d recover faster.’

"We need to make a trip to the Grizzly Bear Tribe."

Si Muye was weaving dry grass in his hands. Hearing Shen Yue say this, he put down his work.

"Okay."

As for Si Muye’s sudden change in attitude toward her—how he granted her every request, was so obedient, and worked hard without complaint—Shen Yue chalked it up to him being grateful that she had healed his leg.

’As for anything else, I really don’t dare to think too much about it. After all, I’m ugly as sin right now.’

’If I weren’t so ugly, I might suspect this giant bear wanted to start something with me.’

’If this man really did have some feelings for me, I wouldn’t mind him becoming my children’s stepfather. After all, in the Beast World, one more man is one more laborer. I’m not stupid enough to let free labor go to waste and make my own life harder.’

’Men are meant to be put to work, not to be loved.’

When they arrived at the Grizzly Bear Tribe, Shen Yue was surprised to see that in just two short days, Xiong Jiaojiao had already gotten her comeuppance.

A male black bear in heat had broken into her cave and was forcing himself on the now-blind Xiong Jiaojiao.

Meanwhile, her Beast Husbands had all taken their cubs and fled.

Only the dead Xiong Da was lying at the cave entrance, looking like he had been dead for about two days.

Si Muye was stunned. "How did he die?"

Although he had twisted the male’s arm that day, with the robust physique of a Bear Clan Beastman, such an injury should have only been disabling, not fatal.

Shen Yue raised an eyebrow.

"He deserved to die."

’That day, I stabbed him in a vital pressure point. Even though his strong constitution prevented him from dying immediately, his spleen was ruptured. The moment he dared to drink water, he would start vomiting blood and die.’

’When those Beast Husbands were dragging Xiong Jiaojiao and Xiong Da away, I saw a trickle of blood leaking from the corner of Xiong Da’s mouth. Only then did I let them leave without worry.’

’Otherwise, how could I have let the one who hurt Dabao off so easily?’

Hearing her tone, Si Muye glanced involuntarily at the very dead Xiong Da on the ground. ’He really did deserve it.’

’Dabao still hasn’t woken up!!’

’I just wonder how he actually died. Could he have run into some other trouble afterward?’

Just then, Xiong Jiaojiao’s screams echoed from the cave.
